Surah 86

086 surah

وَالسَّمَآءِ وَالطَّارِقِۙ‏ ١

By the heaven, and the night-visitor,

Kasam hai aasmaan ki aur raat ko namudaar honay wale ki

وَمَاۤ اَدۡرٰٮكَ مَا الطَّارِقُۙ‏ ٢

what do you know what the night-visitor is?

Aur tum kya jaano kay woh raat ko namudaar honay wala kya hai

النَّجۡمُ الثَّاقِبُۙ‏ ٣

It is the piercing star.

Chamakta hua tara

اِنۡ كُلُّ نَفۡسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَيۡهَا حَافِظٌؕ‏ ٤

There is no living being but there is a protector over it.

koi jaan aisi nahin hai jiske upar koi nigehbaan na ho

فَلۡيَنۡظُرِ الۡاِنۡسَانُ مِمَّ خُلِقَؕ‏ ٥

So let man consider of what he was created.

Phir zara Insan yahi dekh le ke woh kis cheez se paida kiya gaya hai

خُلِقَ مِنۡ مَّآءٍ دَافِقٍۙ‏ ٦

He was created of a gushing fluid,

Ek uchalne wale pani se paida kiya gaya hai

يَّخۡرُجُ مِنۡۢ بَيۡنِ الصُّلۡبِ وَالتَّرَآٮِٕبِؕ‏ ٧

emanating from between the loins and the ribs.

Jo peet aur seeney ki haddiyon kay darmiyan se nikalta hai

اِنَّهٗ عَلٰى رَجۡعِهٖ لَقَادِرٌؕ‏ ٨

Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life).

Yaqeenan woh (khaliq) usey dobara paida karne par qadir hai

يَوۡمَ تُبۡلَى السَّرَآٮِٕرُۙ‏ ٩

On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test

Jis roz poshida asraar ki jaanch padtal hogi

فَمَا لَهٗ مِنۡ قُوَّةٍ وَّلَا نَاصِرٍؕ‏ ١٠

he shall have no power, and no helper.

Us waqt Insan ke paas na khud apna koi zoar hoga aur na koi uski madad karne wala hoga

وَالسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ الرَّجۡعِۙ‏ ١١

By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain,

Kasam hai baarish barsane waley aasman ki

وَالۡاَرۡضِ ذَاتِ الصَّدۡعِۙ‏ ١٢

and by the earth ever bursting with verdure,

Aur (nabataat ugte waqt) phatt jane wali zameen ki

اِنَّهٗ لَقَوۡلٌ فَصۡلٌۙ‏ ١٣

this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word,

Yeh ek jachi-tuli baat hai

وَّمَا هُوَ بِالۡهَزۡلِؕ‏ ١٤

not a flippant jest.

Hasi mazak nahin hai

اِنَّهُمۡ يَكِيۡدُوۡنَ كَيۡدًا ۙ‏ ١٥

They are devising a guile,

yeh log kuch chalein chal rahe hain

وَّاَكِيۡدُ كَيۡدًا ۚۖ‏ ١٦

and I too am devising a guile.

Aur mai bhi ek chaal chal raha hoon

فَمَهِّلِ الۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ اَمۡهِلۡهُمۡ رُوَيۡدًا‏ ١٧

So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile.

Pas chodh do aey nabi, in kafiron ko ek zara ki zara in ke haal par chod do
