Surah 88

088 surah

هَلۡ اَتٰٮكَ حَدِيۡثُ الۡغَاشِيَةِؕ‏ ١

Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you?

Kya tumhein us chaa janey wali aafat ki khabar pahunchi hai

وُجُوۡهٌ يَّوۡمَٮِٕذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ ۙ‏ ٢

Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear,

Kuch chehrey us roz khauff zada hongey

عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ ۙ‏ ٣

be toiling and worn-out;

Sakht mashakkat kar rahe hongey

تَصۡلٰى نَارًا حَامِيَةً ۙ‏ ٤

they shall burn in a Scorching Fire;

Thakey jatey hongey, shadeed aag mei jhulas rahe hongey

تُسۡقٰى مِنۡ عَيۡنٍ اٰنِيَةٍؕ‏ ٥

their drink shall be from a boiling spring.

khaultey(boiling) huey chashmey(spring) ka paani unhei peene ko diya jaeyga

لَـيۡسَ لَهُمۡ طَعَامٌ اِلَّا مِنۡ ضَرِيۡعٍۙ‏ ٦

They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns

khar-dar(kaante-daar) sukhi ghaans ke siwa koi khana unke liye na hoga

لَّا يُسۡمِنُ وَلَا يُغۡنِىۡ مِنۡ جُوۡعٍؕ‏ ٧

that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger.

Jo na mota karey na bhook mitaye

وُجُوۡهٌ يَّوۡمَٮِٕذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ ۙ‏ ٨

On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy,

لِّسَعۡيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ ۙ‏ ٩

well-pleased with their striving.

Apne kar-guzari par khush hongey

فِىۡ جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍۙ‏ ١٠

They will be in a lofty Garden

Aali muqaam jannat mein hongey

لَّا تَسۡمَعُ فِيۡهَا لَاغِيَةً ؕ‏ ١١

wherein they shall hear no vain talk.

koi behuda baat wahan na sunengey

فِيۡهَا عَيۡنٌ جَارِيَةٌ​ ۘ‏ ١٢

In it there shall be a flowing spring,

Usmein chasmey rawan hongey

فِيۡهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرۡفُوۡعَةٌ ۙ‏ ١٣

and couches raised high,

Uske andar unchi masnadein hongi

وَّاَكۡوَابٌ مَّوۡضُوۡعَةٌ ۙ‏ ١٤

and goblets laid out,

Sagar rakhey huey hongey

وَّنَمَارِقُ مَصۡفُوۡفَةٌ ۙ‏ ١٥

and cushions arrayed in rows,

gaon takiyon(cushions arrayed) ke qatarein lagi hongi

وَّزَرَابِىُّ مَبۡثُوۡثَةٌ ؕ‏ ١٦

and rich carpets levelled out.

Aur nafees farsh bichey huey hongey

اَفَلَا يَنۡظُرُوۡنَ اِلَى الۡاِ بِلِ كَيۡفَ خُلِقَتۡ‏ ١٧

Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created?

وَاِلَى السَّمَآءِ كَيۡفَ رُفِعَتۡ‏ ١٨

And the sky: how it was raised high?

Asman ko nahin dekhte ke kaise uthaya gaya

وَاِلَى الۡجِبَالِ كَيۡفَ نُصِبَتۡ‏ ١٩

And the mountains: how they were fixed?

Pahadon ko nahin dekhtey ke kaisey jamaye gaye

وَاِلَى الۡاَرۡضِ كَيۡفَ سُطِحَتۡ‏ ٢٠

And the earth: how it was spread out?

Aur zameen ko nahin dekhtey ke kaisey bichayi gayi

فَذَكِّرۡ ؕ اِنَّمَاۤ اَنۡتَ مُذَكِّرٌ ؕ‏ ٢١

So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel,

Acha to ( aey nabi) nasihat kiye jao, tum bas nasihat hi karne wale ho

لَـسۡتَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ بِمُصَۜيۡطِرٍۙ‏ ٢٢

and are not invested with the authority to compel them.

kuch inpar jabr karne wale nahin ho

اِلَّا مَنۡ تَوَلّٰى وَكَفَرَۙ‏ ٢٣

But whoever will turn away (from the Truth),

Albatta jo shaks mooh modega aur inkar karega

فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللّٰهُ الۡعَذَابَ الۡاَكۡبَرَؕ‏ ٢٤

Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement.

To Allah usko bhaari saza dega

اِنَّ اِلَيۡنَاۤ اِيَابَهُمۡۙ‏ ٢٥

Surely to Us is their return;

In logon ko palatna hamari taraf hi hai

ثُمَّ اِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا حِسَابَهُمْ‏ ٢٦

and then it is for Us to call them to account.

Phir inka hisab lena hamare hi zimmey hai
