Ash-Shams

Surah 91

091 surah

وَالشَّمۡسِ وَضُحٰٮهَا  ۙ‏ ١

By the sun and its heat and brightness,

Suraj aur uski dhoop ki kasam

وَالۡقَمَرِ اِذَا تَلٰٮهَا  ۙ‏ ٢

and by the moon as it follows it;

Aur Chand ki kasam jabke wo uske pichey aata hai

وَالنَّهَارِ اِذَا جَلّٰٮهَا ۙ‏ ٣

and by the day as it displays the sun's glory,

Aur din ki kasam jabke woh (Suraj ko) numaya kar deta hai

وَالَّيۡلِ اِذَا يَغۡشٰٮهَا ۙ‏ ٤

and by the night as it envelopes the sun;

Aur raat ki kasam jabke woh (suraj ko) dhank leti hai

وَالسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنٰٮهَا ۙ‏ ٥

and by the sky and by Him Who made it;

Aur aasman ki aur us zaat ki kasam jisne usey qayam kiya

وَالۡاَرۡضِ وَمَا طَحٰٮهَا ۙ‏ ٦

and by the earth and by Him Who stretched it out;

Aur zameen ki aur us zaat ki kasam jisne usey bichaya

وَنَفۡسٍ وَّمَا سَوّٰٮهَا ۙ‏ ٧

and by the soul and by Him Who perfectly proportioned it,

Aur nafs-e-Insani ki aur us zaat ki kasam jisne usey hamwar kiya

فَاَلۡهَمَهَا فُجُوۡرَهَا وَتَقۡوٰٮهَا ۙ‏ ٨

and imbued it with (the consciousness of) its evil and its piety:

Phir uski badi aur uski parhezgari uss par ilham kar di

قَدۡ اَفۡلَحَ مَنۡ زَكّٰٮهَا ۙ‏ ٩

He who purifies it will prosper,

Yaqeenan falah pa gaya woh jisne nafs ka tazkiya kiya

وَقَدۡ خَابَ مَنۡ دَسّٰٮهَا ؕ‏ ١٠

and he who suppresses it will be ruined.

Aur na-murad hua woh jisne usko daba diya

كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُوۡدُ بِطَغۡوٰٮهَآ  ۙ‏ ١١

In their presumptuous insolence the Thamud called the Truth a lie

Samood ne apni sarkashi ki bina par jhutlaya

اِذِ انۡۢبَعَثَ اَشۡقٰٮهَا  ۙ‏ ١٢

when their arch-criminal rose up in rage.

Jab us qaum ka sab se zyada shaqi (Badnaseeb) aadmi biphar kar utha

فَقَالَ لَهُمۡ رَسُوۡلُ اللّٰهِ نَاقَةَ اللّٰهِ وَسُقۡيٰهَا ؕ‏ ١٣

Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!”

To Allah ke Rasool ne un logon se kaha ke khabardar Allah ki ountni (she-camel) ko (haath na lagana) aur uske paani peene (mein maane na hona)

فَكَذَّبُوۡهُ فَعَقَرُوۡهَا   ۙفَدَمۡدَمَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ بِذَنۡۢبِهِمۡ فَسَوّٰٮهَا  ۙ‏ ١٤

But they rejected his statement as a lie and hamstrung the she-camel. For that crime their Lord rumbled down upon them, utterly razing them to the ground.

Magar unhon ne uski baat ko jhuta qarar diya aur ountni ko maar dala. Aakhir-e-kaar unke gunah ke padash mein unke Rubb ne unpar aisi aafat toodi ke ek saath sab ko paywand-e-khaaq kar diya

وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقۡبٰهَا‏ ١٥

He has no fear of its sequel.

Aur usey (apne is fail kay) kisi burey natije ka koi khauf(darr) nahin hai
