The weather is changing, and many of us, along with our children, are falling ill. These moments of sickness remind me how fragile we are and how quickly our strength can fade.
When we are healthy, it’s easy to forget how precious that time is. We live as though our energy and freedom will last forever, taking our health for granted. But illness, and even the thought of old age, serves as a wake-up call—health is not just for enjoyment; it’s a gift, an opportunity to do good and prepare for what lies ahead.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also warned us:
“Take advantage of five before five: your youth before your old age, your health before your illness, your wealth before your poverty, your free time before your work, and your life before your death.” (Musnad Ahmad)
This make me reflect on how much of my time I waste in distractions.
May Allah forgive me for the time I have lost and for the opportunities I have neglected.
May He guide us to use our health and strength in ways that please Him before these gifts are taken away.
