Ta' Ha'

Ta ha

مَاۤ اَنۡزَلۡـنَا عَلَيۡكَ الۡـقُرۡاٰنَ لِتَشۡقٰٓى ۙ‏ ٢

We did not reveal the Qur'an to you to cause you distress;

Humne yeh Quran tumpar is liye nazil nahin kiya hai ke tum museebat mein padh jao

اِلَّا تَذۡكِرَةً لِّمَنۡ يَّخۡشٰى ۙ‏ ٣

it is only a reminder for him who fears Allah;

Yeh to ek yaad dihani hai har us shaks ke liye jo darey

تَنۡزِيۡلًا مِّمَّنۡ خَلَقَ الۡاَرۡضَ وَالسَّمٰوٰتِ الۡعُلَى ؕ‏ ٤

a revelation from Him Who created the earth and the high heavens.

Nazil kiya gaya hai us zaat ki taraf se jisne paida kiya hai zameen ko aur buland aasmano ko

اَلرَّحۡمٰنُ عَلَى الۡعَرۡشِ اسۡتَوٰى‏ ٥

The Most Compassionate Lord is settled on the Throne (of the Universe).

Woh Rehman (qayanaat ke) takht e sultanat par jalwa farma hai

لَهٗ مَا فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِى الۡاَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا وَمَا تَحۡتَ الثَّرٰى‏ ٦

To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, and all that is in between, and all that is beneath the soil.

Maalik hai un sab cheezon ka jo aasmano aur zameen mein hain aur jo zameen o aasmaan ke darmiyan mein hain aur jo mitti ke nichey hain

وَاِنۡ تَجۡهَرۡ بِالۡقَوۡلِ فَاِنَّهٗ يَعۡلَمُ السِّرَّ وَاَخۡفٰى‏ ٧

Whether you speak out aloud (or in a low voice), He knows what is said secretly, and even that which is most hidden.

Tum chahe apni baat pukar kar kaho, woh to chupke se kahi hui baat balke issey makhfi-tar (most secret) baat bhi jaanta hai

اَللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ ​ؕ لَـهُ الۡاَسۡمَآءُ الۡحُسۡنٰى‏ ٨

Allah - there is no god but He. His are the most excellent names.

Woh Allah hai, uske siwa koi khuda nahin, uske liye behtareen naam hain

​وَهَلۡ اَتٰٮكَ حَدِيۡثُ مُوۡسٰى​ۘ‏ ٩

Has the story of Moses reached you?

Aur tumhein kuch Moosa ki khabar bhi pahunchi hai

اِذۡ رَاٰ نَارًا فَقَالَ لِاَهۡلِهِ امۡكُثُوۡۤا اِنِّىۡۤ اٰنَسۡتُ نَارًا لَّعَلِّىۡۤ اٰتِيۡكُمۡ مِّنۡهَا بِقَبَسٍ اَوۡ اَجِدُ عَلَى النَّارِ هُدًى‏ ١٠

When he saw a fire and said to his family: "Hold on! I have just perceived a fire; perhaps I will bring a brand from it for you, or I will find some guidance at the fire about the way to follow."

Jabke usne ek aag dekhi aur apne ghar walon se kaha ke “ zara thehro, maine ek aag dekhi hai, shayad ke tumhare liye ek-aad angara le aaon, ya is aag par mujhey (raaste ke mutaalik) koi rehnumayi (guidance) mil jaye”

فَلَمَّاۤ اَتٰٮهَا نُوۡدِىَ يٰمُوۡسٰىؕ‏ ١١

When he came to it, a voice called out: "Moses!

Wahan pahuncha to pukara gaya “Aey Moosa

اِنِّىۡۤ اَنَا رَبُّكَ فَاخۡلَعۡ نَـعۡلَيۡكَ​ۚ اِنَّكَ بِالۡوَادِ الۡمُقَدَّسِ طُوًىؕ‏ ١٢

Verily I am your Lord! Take off your shoes. You are in the sacred valley, Tuwa!

Main hi tera Rubb hoon, jutiyan (shoes) utaar de, tu waadi e muqaddas Tuwa mein hai

وَاَنَا اخۡتَرۡتُكَ فَاسۡتَمِعۡ لِمَا يُوۡحٰى‏ ١٣

I Myself have chosen you; therefore, give ear to what is revealed.

Aur maine tujhko chun liya hai, sun jo kuch wahee kiya jata hai

اِنَّنِىۡۤ اَنَا اللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنَا فَاعۡبُدۡنِىۡ ۙ وَاَقِمِ الصَّلٰوةَ لِذِكۡرِىۡ‏ ١٤

Verily I am Allah. There is no god beside Me. So serve Me and establish Prayers to remember Me.

Main hi Allah hoon, mere siwa koi khuda nahin hai, pas tu meri bandagi kar aur meri yaad ke liye namaz qayam kar

اِنَّ السَّاعَةَ اٰتِيَـةٌ اَكَادُ اُخۡفِيۡهَا لِتُجۡزٰى كُلُّ نَفۡسٍۢ بِمَا تَسۡعٰى‏ ١٥

The Hour of Resurrection is coming. I have willed to keep the time of its coming hidden so that everyone may be recompensed in accordance with his effort.

Qayamat ki ghadi zaroor aane wali hai, main uska waqt makhfi rakhna chahta hoon, taa-ke har mutanaffis apni saii(labours/koshish) ke mutabik badla paye

فَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكَ عَنۡهَا مَنۡ لَّا يُؤۡمِنُ بِهَا وَاتَّبَعَ هَوٰٮهُ فَتَرۡدٰى‏  ١٦

Let him who does not believe in it and follows his lust not turn your thought away from it, lest you are ruined.

Pas koi aisa shaks jo uspar iman nahin laata aur apni khwahish e nafs ka banda ban gaya hai tujhko us ghadi ki fikr se na roak de, warna tu halakat mein padh jayega

وَمَا تِلۡكَ بِيَمِيۡنِكَ يٰمُوۡسٰى‏ ١٧

And what is in your right hand, O Moses?"

Aur aey Moosa, yeh tere haath mein kya hai?”

قَالَ هِىَ عَصَاىَ​ۚ اَتَوَكَّؤُا عَلَيۡهَا وَاَهُشُّ بِهَا عَلٰى غَـنَمِىۡ وَلِىَ فِيۡهَا مَاٰرِبُ اُخۡرٰى‏ ١٨

Moses answered: "This is my staff. I lean on it (when I walk), and with it I beat down leaves for my flock, and I have many other uses for it."

Moosa ne jawab diya “yeh meri laathi hai, ispar taik laga kar chalta hoon, issey apni bakriyon ke liye pattey jhadta hoon, aur bhi bahut se kaam hain jo issey leta hoon”

قَالَ اَلۡقِهَا يٰمُوۡسٰى‏ ١٩

He said: "Moses, throw it down."

Farmaya “phenk de isko Moosa”

فَاَلۡقٰٮهَا فَاِذَا هِىَ حَيَّةٌ تَسۡعٰى‏ ٢٠

So he threw it down, and lo! it was a rapidly moving snake.

Usne phenk diya aur yakayak woh ek saanp (snake) thi jo daud raha tha

قَالَ خُذۡهَا وَلَا تَخَفۡ​ سَنُعِيۡدُهَا سِيۡرَتَهَا الۡاُوۡلٰى‏ ٢١

Then He said: "Seize it and have no fear. We shall restore it to its former state.

Farmaya “pakad le isko aur darr nahin, hum isey phir waisa hi kardenge jaisi yeh thi

وَاضۡمُمۡ يَدَكَ اِلَىٰ جَنَاحِكَ تَخۡرُجۡ بَيۡضَآءَ مِنۡ غَيۡرِ سُوۡٓءٍ اٰيَةً اُخۡرٰىۙ‏ ٢٢

And place your hand in your armpit, it will come forth shining white, without blemish. This is another Sign of Allah,

Aur zara apna haath apni bagal mein daba, chamakta hua niklega bagair kisi takleef ke, yeh dusri nishani hai

لِنُرِيَكَ مِنۡ اٰيٰتِنَا الۡـكُبۡـرٰى​ۚ‏ ٢٣

for We shall show you some of Our greatest Signs.

Is liye ke hum tujhey apni badi nishniyan dikane waley hain

اِذۡهَبۡ اِلٰى فِرۡعَوۡنَ اِنَّهٗ طَغٰى‏ ٢٤

And go to Pharaoh now for he has transgressed all bounds."

Ab tu Firoun ke paas jaa, woh sarkash ho gaya hai”

قَالَ رَبِّ اشۡرَحۡ لِىۡ صَدۡرِىْ ۙ‏ ٢٥

Moses said: "Lord! Open my breast for me;

Moosa ne arz kiya “ parwardigar, mera seena khol de

وَيَسِّرۡ لِىۡۤ اَمۡرِىْ ۙ‏ ٢٦

and ease my task for me,

Aur mere kaam ko mere liye aasaan karde

وَاحۡلُلۡ عُقۡدَةً مِّنۡ لِّسَانِیْ ۙ‏ ٢٧

and loosen the knot from my tongue

Aur meri zubaan ki girah suljha de

يَفۡقَهُوۡا قَوۡلِیْ ‏ ٢٨

so that they may understand my speech;

Taa-ke log meri baat samajh sakein

وَاجۡعَلْ لِّىۡ وَزِيۡرًا مِّنۡ اَهۡلِىْ ۙ‏ ٢٩

and appoint for me, from my household, someone who will help me bear my burden -

Aur mere liye mere apne kumbe (my own family) se ek wazir muqarrar karde

هٰرُوۡنَ اَخِى ۙ‏ ٣٠

Aaron, my brother.

Haroon, jo mera bhai hai

اشۡدُدۡ بِهٖۤ اَزۡرِىْ ۙ‏ ٣١

Strengthen me through him

Uske zariye se mera haath mazboot kar

وَاَشۡرِكۡهُ فِىۡۤ اَمۡرِىْ ۙ‏ ٣٢

and let him share my task

Aur usko mere kaam mein shareek karde

كَىۡ نُسَبِّحَكَ كَثِيۡرًا ۙ‏ ٣٣

that we may abundantly extol Your glory;

Hum khoob teri paaki bayan karein

— Abul Ala Maududi (Roman Urdu)

وَّنَذۡكُرَكَ كَثِيۡرًا ؕ‏ ٣٤

and may remember You much.

Aur khoob tera charcha karein

— Abul Ala Maududi (Roman Urdu)

اِنَّكَ كُنۡتَ بِنَا بَصِيۡرًا‏ ٣٥

Verily, You have always watched over us."

Tu hamesha hamare haal par nigraan raha hai”

قَالَ قَدۡ اُوۡتِيۡتَ سُؤۡلَـكَ يٰمُوۡسٰى‏ ٣٦

He said: "Moses, your petition is granted.

Farmaya “ diya gaya jo tu nay maanga aey Moosa

وَلَـقَدۡ مَنَـنَّا عَلَيۡكَ مَرَّةً اُخۡرٰٓىۙ‏ ٣٧

We have again bestowed Our favour upon you.

Humne phir ek martaba tujhpar ehsan kiya

اِذۡ اَوۡحَيۡنَاۤ اِلٰٓى اُمِّكَ مَا يُوۡحٰٓى ۙ‏ ٣٨

Recall, when We indicated to your mother through inspiration:

Yaad karo woh waqt jabke humne teri Maa ko ishara kiya, aisa ishara jo wahee ke zariye kiya jaata hai

اَنِ اقۡذِفِيۡهِ فِى التَّابُوۡتِ فَاقۡذِفِيۡهِ فِى الۡيَمِّ فَلۡيُلۡقِهِ الۡيَمُّ بِالسَّاحِلِ يَاۡخُذۡهُ عَدُوٌّ لِّىۡ وَعَدُوٌّ لَّهٗ​ ؕ وَاَلۡقَيۡتُ عَلَيۡكَ مَحَـبَّةً مِّنِّىۡ ۚ وَلِتُصۡنَعَ عَلٰى عَيۡنِىۡ ۘ‏ ٣٩

'Put the baby into a chest and then throw him in the river. The river will throw him up on the shore, and then an enemy of Mine and an enemy of his will take him.' And I spread My love over you in order that you might be reared in My sight.

Ke is bacchey ko sandook (box) mein rakh de aur sandook ko dariya mein chodh de, dariya isey saahil par phenk dega aur isey mera dushman aur is bacchey ka dushman utha lega. Maine apni taraf se tujhpar mohabbat taari kardi aur aisa intizam kiya ke tu meri nigrani mein paala jaye

اِذۡ تَمۡشِىۡۤ اُخۡتُكَ فَتَقُوۡلُ هَلۡ اَدُلُّـكُمۡ عَلٰى مَنۡ يَّكۡفُلُهٗ​ ؕ فَرَجَعۡنٰكَ اِلٰٓى اُمِّكَ كَىۡ تَقَرَّ عَيۡنُهَا وَلَا تَحۡزَنَ ؕ وَقَتَلۡتَ نَـفۡسًا فَنَجَّيۡنٰكَ مِنَ الۡغَمِّ وَفَتَـنّٰكَ فُتُوۡنًا فَلَبِثۡتَ سِنِيۡنَ فِىۡۤ اَهۡلِ مَدۡيَنَ ۙ ثُمَّ جِئۡتَ عَلٰى قَدَرٍ يّٰمُوۡسٰى‏ ٤٠

Recall, when your sister went along, saying: 'Shall I direct you to one who will take charge of him?' Thus We brought you back to your mother so that her heart might be gladdened and she might not grieve. Moses, recall when you slew a person. We delivered you from distress and made you go through several trials. Then you stayed for several years among the people of Midian, and now you have come at the right moment as ordained.

Yaad kar jabke teri behan chal rahi thi, phir jaa kar kehti hai, “main tumhein uska pata doon jo is bacchey ki parwarish acchi tarah karey?” Is tarah humne tujhey phir teri Maa ke paas pahuncha diya taa-ke uski aankh thandi rahey aur woh ranjeeda na ho. Aur (yeh bhi yaad kar ke) tu nay ek shaks ko qatal kardiya tha, humne tujhey is phanday se nikala aur tujhey mukhtalif aazmaaishon se guzara aur tu Madiyan ke logon mein kai saal thehra raha. Phir ab theek apne waqt par tu aa gaya hai aey Moosa

وَاصۡطَنَعۡتُكَ لِنَفۡسِى​ۚ‏ ٤١

I have chosen you for My service.

Maine tujhey apne kaam ka bana liya hai

اِذۡهَبۡ اَنۡتَ وَاَخُوۡكَ بِاٰيٰتِىۡ وَلَا تَنِيَا فِىۡ ذِكۡرِى​ۚ‏ ٤٢

So go forth, both you and your brother, with My Signs, and do not slacken in remembering Me.

Ja, tu aur tera bhai meri nishaniyon ke saath, aur dekho tum meri yaad mein taqseer (susti /negligence) na karna

اِذۡهَبَاۤ اِلٰى فِرۡعَوۡنَ اِنَّهٗ طَغٰى​ ​ۖۚ​​​‏ ٤٣

Go both of you to Pharaoh, for he has transgressed all bounds,

Jao tum dono Firoun ke paas ke woh sarkash ho gaya hai

فَقُوۡلَا لَهٗ قَوۡلًا لَّيِّنًا لَّعَلَّهٗ يَتَذَكَّرُ اَوۡ يَخۡشٰى‏ ٤٤

and speak to him gently, perhaps he may take heed or fear (Allah)."

Ussey narmi ke saath baat karna, shayad ke woh naseehat qabool karey ya darr jaaye”

قَالَا رَبَّنَاۤ اِنَّـنَا نَخَافُ اَنۡ يَّفۡرُطَ عَلَيۡنَاۤ اَوۡ اَنۡ يَّطۡغٰى‏  ٤٥

The two said:" Lord! We fear he may commit excesses against us, or transgress all bounds."

Dono ne arz kiya “ parwardigar, humein andesha hai ke woh humpar zyadati karega ya pil padega(treat us cruelly)”

قَالَ لَا تَخَافَآ​ اِنَّنِىۡ مَعَكُمَاۤ اَسۡمَعُ وَاَرٰى‏ ٤٦

He said: "Have no fear. I am with you, hearing and seeing all.

Farmaya” daro mat, main tumhare saath hoon, sab kuch sun raha hoon aur dekh raha hoon

فَاۡتِيٰهُ فَقُوۡلَاۤ اِنَّا رَسُوۡلَا رَبِّكَ فَاَرۡسِلۡ مَعَنَا بَنِىۡۤ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ ۙ وَلَا تُعَذِّبۡهُمۡ​ ؕ قَدۡ جِئۡنٰكَ بِاٰيَةٍ مِّنۡ رَّبِّكَ​ ؕ وَالسَّلٰمُ عَلٰى مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الۡهُدٰى‏ ٤٧

So, go to him, and say: 'Behold, both of us are the Messengers of your Lord. Let the Children of Israel go with us, and do not chastise them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord; and peace shall be for him who follows the true guidance.

Jao uske paas aur kaho ke hum tere Rubb ke faristaade (messengers) hain, bani Israel ko hamare saath janey ke liye chodh de aur unko takleef na de. Hum tere paas tere Rubb ki nishani lekar aaye hain aur salamati hai uske liye jo raah-e-raast ki pairwi karey

اِنَّا قَدۡ اُوۡحِىَ اِلَـيۡنَاۤ اَنَّ الۡعَذَابَ عَلٰى مَنۡ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّٰى‏  ٤٨

It has been revealed to us that chastisement awaits those who called the lie to the truth and turned away from it.' "

Humko wahee (revelation) se bataya gaya hai ke azaab hai uske liye jo jhutlaye aur mooh moadey.”

قَالَ فَمَنۡ رَّبُّكُمَا يٰمُوۡسٰى‏ ٤٩

Pharaoh said:" Moses! Who is the Lord of the two of you?"

Firoun ne kaha “accha, to phir tum dono ka Rubb kaun hai aey Moosa?”

قَالَ رَبُّنَا الَّذِىۡۤ اَعۡطٰـى كُلَّ شَىۡءٍ خَلۡقَهٗ ثُمَّ هَدٰى‏ ٥٠

He said: "Our Lord is He Who gave everything its form and then guided it."

Moosa ne jawab diya “hamara Rubb woh hai jisne har cheez ko uski saakht bakshi(given distinctive form), phir usko raasta bataya”

قَالَ فَمَا بَالُ الۡقُرُوۡنِ الۡاُوۡلٰى‏ ٥١

Pharaoh asked: "Then, what is the state of the former generations?"

Firoun bola “aur pehle jo nasalein (generations) guzar chuki hain unki phir kya halat thi?”

قَالَ عِلۡمُهَا عِنۡدَ رَبِّىۡ فِىۡ كِتٰبٍ​​ۚ لَا يَضِلُّ رَبِّىۡ وَلَا يَنۡسَى‏  ٥٢

Moses said: "Its knowledge is with my Lord, recorded in the Book. My Lord does not err, nor does He forget."

Moosa ne kaha “uska ilam mere Rubb ke paas ek nawishte (record) mein mehfooz hai, mera Rub na chukta hai na bhoolta hai”

الَّذِىۡ جَعَلَ لَـكُمُ الۡاَرۡضَ مَهۡدًا وَّسَلَكَ لَـكُمۡ فِيۡهَا سُبُلًا وَّ اَنۡزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءً ؕ فَاَخۡرَجۡنَا بِهٖۤ اَزۡوَاجًا مِّنۡ نَّبَاتٍ شَتّٰى‏ ٥٣

He it is Who spread the earth for you; and made in it paths for you, and sent down water from the sky, and then through it We brought forth many species of diverse plants.

Wahi jisne tumhare liye zameen ka farsh bichaya, aur usmein tumhare chalne ko raaste banaye, aur upar se pani barsaya, phir uske zariye se mukhtalif aqsam ki paidawaar nikali

كُلُوۡا وَارۡعَوۡا اَنۡعَامَكُمۡ​ ؕ اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰ لِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّاُولِى الـنُّهٰى‏ ٥٤

So eat yourself and pasture your cattle. Surely there are many Signs in this for people of understanding.

Khao aur apne jaanwaron ko bhi charao, yaqeenan is mein bahut si nishaniyan hain aqal rakhne walon ke liye

مِنۡهَا خَلَقۡنٰكُمۡ وَفِيۡهَا نُعِيۡدُكُمۡ وَمِنۡهَا نُخۡرِجُكُمۡ تَارَةً اُخۡرٰى‏ ٥٥

From this very earth We created you and to the same earth We shall cause you to return, and from it We shall bring you forth to life again.

Isi zameen se humne tumko paida kiya hai, isi mein hum tumhein wapas le jayenge aur isi se tumko dobara nikalenge

وَلَـقَدۡ اَرَيۡنٰهُ اٰيٰتِنَا كُلَّهَا فَكَذَّبَ وَاَبٰى‏ ٥٦

Indeed We showed Pharaoh Our Signs, all of them, but he declared them to be false and rejected them.

Humne Firoun ko apni sabhi nishaniyan dikayi magar woh jhutlaye chala gaya aur na maana

قَالَ اَجِئۡتَنَا لِتُخۡرِجَنَا مِنۡ اَرۡضِنَا بِسِحۡرِكَ يٰمُوۡسٰى‏ ٥٧

He said: "Have you come to us to drive us out of our land by your sorcery?

Kehne laga “aey Moosa, kya tu hamare paas is liye aaya hai ke apne jaadu ke zoar se humko hamare mulk se nikal bahar karey

فَلَنَاۡتِيَنَّكَ بِسِحۡرٍ مِّثۡلِهٖ فَاجۡعَلۡ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَكَ مَوۡعِدًا لَّا نُخۡلِفُهٗ نَحۡنُ وَلَاۤ اَنۡتَ مَكَانًـا سُوًى‏ ٥٨

We shall confront you with a sorcery like your own. So appoint a day when both of us might meet face to face in an open space; an appointment which neither we nor you shall fail to keep."

Accha, hum bhi tere muqable mein waisa hi jaadu latey hain, tai karle kab aur kahan muqaabla karna hai, na hum is qarardaad se phirenge na tu Phiriyo , khule maidan mein saamne aaja”

قَالَ مَوۡعِدُكُمۡ يَوۡمُ الزِّيۡنَةِ وَاَنۡ يُّحۡشَرَ النَّاسُ ضُحًى‏ ٥٩

Moses said: "The appointment to meet you is on the Day of the Feast and let all people come together before noon."

Moosa ne kaha “jashn ka din tai hua, aur din chadhey log jama hon”

فَتَوَلّٰى فِرۡعَوۡنُ فَجَمَعَ كَيۡدَهٗ ثُمَّ اَتٰى‏ ٦٠

Pharaoh went back and concerted all his stratagem and returned for the encounter.

Firoun ne palat kar apne saare hathkande jama kiye aur muqaable mein aa gaya

قَالَ لَهُمۡ مُّوۡسٰى وَيۡلَكُمۡ لَا تَفۡتَرُوۡا عَلَى اللّٰهِ كَذِبًا فَيُسۡحِتَكُمۡ بِعَذَابٍ​ۚ وَقَدۡ خَابَ مَنِ افۡتَرٰى‏ ٦١

(At the time of the encounter) Moses said to them: "Woe to you! Do not invent falsehoods against Allah lest He destroy you with a scourge. Surely those who invent lies shall come to grief."

Moosa ne ( ain mauqe par giroh muqabil ko mukhatib karke) kaha “shamat ke maaron, na jhooti tohmatein (invent falsehood) baandho Allah par, warna woh ek sakht azaab se tumhara sattyanaas kardega, jhoot jisne bhi ghada woh na-murad hua”

فَتَنَازَعُوۡۤا اَمۡرَهُمۡ بَيۡنَهُمۡ وَاَسَرُّوا النَّجۡوٰى‏ ٦٢

Thereupon they wrangled among themselves about the matter and conferred in secret.

Yeh sunkar unke darmiyan ikhtilaf e raai ho gaya aur woh chupke chupke baham mashwarey karne lagey

قَالُوۡۤا اِنۡ هٰذٰٮنِ لَسٰحِرٰنِ يُرِيۡدٰنِ اَنۡ يُّخۡرِجٰكُمۡ مِّنۡ اَرۡضِكُمۡ بِسِحۡرِهِمَا وَيَذۡهَبَا بِطَرِيۡقَتِكُمُ الۡمُثۡلٰى‏ ٦٣

Some of them said: "These two are magicians, who want to drive you out of your land with their magic and to destroy your excellent way of life.

Aakhir-e-kaar kuch logon ne kaha ke “yeh dono to mehaz jaadugar hain.Inka maqsad yeh hai ke apne jaadu ke zoar se tumko tumhari zameen se be-dakhal kardein aur tumhare misaali (ideal) tareeq-e-zindagi ka khatma kardein

فَاَجۡمِعُوۡا كَيۡدَكُمۡ ثُمَّ ائۡتُوۡا صَفًّا​ ۚ وَقَدۡ اَفۡلَحَ الۡيَوۡمَ مَنِ اسۡتَعۡلٰى‏ ٦٤

So muster all your stratagem and come forth in a row. Whoever prevails today shall triumph."

Apni saari tadberein aaj ikatthi karlo aur eka karke maidan mein aao. Bas yeh samajhlo ke aaj jo gaalib raha wahi jeet gaya.”

قَالُوۡا يٰمُوۡسٰٓى اِمَّاۤ اَنۡ تُلۡقِىَ وَاِمَّاۤ اَنۡ نَّكُوۡنَ اَوَّلَ مَنۡ اَلۡقٰى‏ ٦٥

The magicians said: "Moses, will you throw down or shall we be the first to throw?"

Jaadugar bole “Moosa, tum phenkte ho ya pehle hum phenkein?”

قَالَ بَلۡ اَلۡقُوۡا​ۚ فَاِذَا حِبَالُهُمۡ وَعِصِيُّهُمۡ يُخَيَّلُ اِلَيۡهِ مِنۡ سِحۡرِهِمۡ اَنَّهَا تَسۡعٰى‏ ٦٦

Moses replied: "No, let it be you to throw first." Then suddenly it appeared to Moses, owing to their magic, as if their ropes and staffs were running.

Moosa ne kaha “nahin, tumhi phenko” yakayak unki rassiyan aur unki laathiyan unke jaadu ke zoar se Moosa ko daudti hui mehsoos hone lagi

فَاَوۡجَسَ فِىۡ نَفۡسِهٖ خِيۡفَةً مُّوۡسٰى‏ ٦٧

So Moses' heart was filled with fear.

Aur moosa apne dil mein darr gaya

قُلۡنَا لَا تَخَفۡ اِنَّكَ اَنۡتَ الۡاَعۡلٰى‏ ٦٨

We said to him: "Have no fear; for it is you who will prevail.

Humne kaha “mat darr, tu hi galib rahega

وَاَ لۡقِ مَا فِىۡ يَمِيۡنِكَ تَلۡقَفۡ مَا صَنَعُوۡا​ ؕاِنَّمَا صَنَعُوۡا كَيۡدُ سٰحِرٍ​ ؕ وَلَا يُفۡلِحُ السّٰحِرُ حَيۡثُ اَتٰى‏ ٦٩

And throw down what is in your right hand; it will swallow up all that they have wrought. They have wrought only a magician's stratagem. A magician cannot come to any good, come whence he may."

Phenk jo kuch tere haath mein hai, abhi inki saari banawati cheezon ko ningle (swallow) jata hai, yeh jo kuch bana kar laye hain yeh to jaadugar ka fareb hai, aur jaadugar kabhi kamiyab nahin ho sakta, khwah kisi shaan se woh aaye”

فَاُلۡقِىَ السَّحَرَةُ سُجَّدًا قَالُوۡۤا اٰمَنَّا بِرَبِّ هٰرُوۡنَ وَمُوۡسٰى‏  ٧٠

Eventually the magicians were impelled to fall down prostrate and said: "We believe in the Lord of Moses and Aaron."

Aakhir ko yahi hua ke saarey jaadugar sajde mein gira diye gaye aur pukar utthey “ maan liya humne Haroon aur Moosa ke Rubb ko”

قَالَ اٰمَنۡتُمۡ لَهٗ قَبۡلَ اَنۡ اٰذَنَ لَـكُمۡ​ؕ اِنَّهٗ لَـكَبِيۡرُكُمُ الَّذِىۡ عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحۡرَ​ۚ فَلَاُقَطِّعَنَّ اَيۡدِيَكُمۡ وَاَرۡجُلَكُمۡ مِّنۡ خِلَافٍ وَّلَاُصَلِّبَـنَّكُمۡ فِىۡ جُذُوۡعِ النَّخۡلِ وَلَـتَعۡلَمُنَّ اَيُّنَاۤ اَشَدُّ عَذَابًا وَّاَبۡقٰى‏ ٧١

Pharaoh said: "What! Did you believe in Him even before I permitted you to do so? Surely, he must be your chief who taught you magic. Now I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and will crucify you on the trunks of palm-trees, and then you will come to know which of us can inflict sterner and more lasting torment."

Firoun ne kaha “tum iman le aaye qabl iske ke main tumhein iski ijazat deta? Maloom ho gaya ke yeh tumhara guru hai jisne tumhein jaadugari sikhayi thi. Accha ab main tumhare haath paon mukhalif simton (alternate sides ) se katwata hoon aur khajoor ke tano(trunks) par tumko sooli deta hoon, phir tumhein pata chal jayega ke hum dono mein se kiska azaab zyada sakht aur dair pa hai” (yani main tumhein zyada sakht saza de sakta hoon ya Moosa)

قَالُوۡا لَنۡ نُّؤۡثِرَكَ عَلٰى مَا جَآءَنَا مِنَ الۡبَيِّنٰتِ وَالَّذِىۡ فَطَرَنَا​ فَاقۡضِ مَاۤ اَنۡتَ قَاضٍ​ ؕ اِنَّمَا تَقۡضِىۡ هٰذِهِ الۡحَيٰوةَ الدُّنۡيَا ؕ‏ ٧٢

The magicians answered: "By Him Who has created us, we shall never prefer you to the Truth after manifest Signs have come to us. So decree whatever you will. Your decree will pertain, at the most, to the present life of the world.

Jaadugaron (magicians) ne jawab diya “qasam hai us zaat ki jisne humein paida kiya hai, yeh hargiz nahin ho sakta ke hum roshan nishaniyan samne aa janey ke baad bhi (sadaqat par) tujhey tarjeeh dein. Tu jo kuch karna chahey karle, tu zyada se zyada bas isi duniya ki zindagi ka faisla kar sakta hai

اِنَّاۤ اٰمَنَّا بِرَبِّنَا لِيَـغۡفِرَ لَـنَا خَطٰيٰنَا وَمَاۤ اَكۡرَهۡتَـنَا عَلَيۡهِ مِنَ السِّحۡرِؕ​ وَاللّٰهُ خَيۡرٌ وَّاَبۡقٰى‏ ٧٣

We believe in our Lord that He may forgive us our sins and also forgive us the practice of magic to which you had compelled us. Allah is the Best and He alone will abide."
