038 surah

صٓ​ وَالۡقُرۡاٰنِ ذِى الذِّكۡرِؕ‏ ١

Sad, and by the Qur'an full of exhortation!

Saad, kasam hai naseehat bharey Quran ki

بَلِ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا فِىۡ عِزَّةٍ وَّشِقَاقٍ‏ ٢

Nay, but the unbelievers are steeped in arrogance and stubborn defiance.

Balke yahi log, jinhon ne maanney se inkar kiya hai, sakht takabbur aur zid mein mubtila hain

كَمۡ اَهۡلَـكۡنَا مِنۡ قَبۡلِهِمۡ مِّنۡ قَرۡنٍ فَنَادَوْا وَّلَاتَ حِيۡنَ مَنَاصٍ‏ ٣

How many a nation did We destroy before them! (When they approached their doom) they cried out (for deliverance), but the time for deliverance was already past.

Insey pehle hum aisi kitni hi qaumon ko halaak kar chuke hain (aur jab unki shamat aayi hai) to woh cheekh utthey hain, magar woh waqt bachne ka nahin hota

وَعَجِبُوۡۤا اَنۡ جَآءَهُمۡ مُّنۡذِرٌ مِّنۡهُمۡ​ وَقَالَ الۡكٰفِرُوۡنَ هٰذَا سٰحِرٌ كَذَّابٌ​ ۖ​ۚ‏ ٤

They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves,and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar.

In logon ko is baat par bada taajub hua ke ek darane wala khud inhi mein se aa gaya, munkireen kehne lagey ke “yeh saahir(sorcerer) hai, sakht jhoota hai

اَجَعَلَ الۡاٰلِهَةَ اِلٰهًا وَّاحِدًا ۖۚ اِنَّ هٰذَا لَشَىۡءٌ عُجَابٌ‏ ٥

Has he made the gods one single God? This is truly astounding.”

Kya isney saarey khudaon ki jagah bas ek hi khuda bana dala? Yeh to badi ajeeb baat hai”

وَانْطَلَقَ الۡمَلَاُ مِنۡهُمۡ اَنِ امۡشُوۡا وَاصۡبِرُوۡا عَلٰٓى اٰلِهَتِكُمۡ​ ​ۖۚ​ اِنَّ هٰذَا لَشَىۡءٌ يُّرَادُ ۖ​ۚ‏ ٦

And the elders among them went forth saying: “Go ahead and be steadfast in adhering to your deities. What is being said is with a design.”

Aur sardaran e qaum yeh kehte huey nikal gaye ke “ chalo aur dat-tey raho apne maboodon ki ibadat par. Yeh baat to kisi aur hi garaz se kahi ja rahi hai

مَا سَمِعۡنَا بِهٰذَا فِى الۡمِلَّةِ الۡاٰخِرَةِ ۖۚ اِنۡ هٰذَاۤ اِلَّا اخۡتِلَاقٌ ​ ۖ​ۚ‏ ٧

We have not heard this in the religious community close to our time. This is nothing but a fabrication.

Yeh baat humne zamana e qareeb ki millat mein kisi se nahin suni. Yeh kuch nahin hai magar ek man-ghadat baat

ءَاُنۡزِلَ عَلَيۡهِ الذِّكۡرُ مِنۡۢ بَيۡنِنَا​ؕ بَلۡ هُمۡ فِىۡ شَكٍّ مِّنۡ ذِكۡرِىۡ​ۚ بَلْ لَّمَّا يَذُوۡقُوۡا عَذَابِؕ‏ ٨

Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement.

Kya hamarey darmiyan bas yahi ek shaks reh gaya tha jispar Allah ka zikr nazil kardiya gaya?”Asal baat yeh hai ke yeh mere “Zikr” par shakk kar rahey hain , aur yeh saari baatein isliye kar rahey hain ke inhon ne mere azaab ka maza chakkha nahin hai

اَمۡ عِنۡدَهُمۡ خَزَآٮِٕنُ رَحۡمَةِ رَبِّكَ الۡعَزِيۡزِ الۡوَهَّابِ​ۚ‏ ٩

Do they possess the treasures of your Lord, the Most Mighty, the Great Bestower?

Kya tere daata (great Bestower) aur gaalib parwardigar ki rehmat ke khazane inke kabze mein hain

اَمۡ لَهُمۡ مُّلۡكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا​فَلۡيَرۡتَقُوۡا فِى الۡاَسۡبَابِ‏ ١٠

Or do they possess the dominion of the heavens and the earth and of all that is in between them? If so, let them ascend the heights of the realm of causation and see!

Kya yeh aasmaan o zameen aur inke darmiyan ki cheezon ke maalik hain? Accha to yeh aalam e asbaab ki bulandiyon par chadh kar dekhein

جُنۡدٌ مَّا هُنَالِكَ مَهۡزُوۡمٌ مِّنَ الۡاَحۡزَابِ‏ ١١

This is only a small army out of the several armies that will suffer defeat here.

Yeh to jatthon (armies) mein se ek choota sa jattha (army) hai jo isi jagah shikhast(suffer defeat) khane wala hai

كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوۡحٍ وَّعَادٌ وَّفِرۡعَوۡنُ ذُو الۡاَوۡتَادِۙ‏  ١٢

Before them the people of Noah, Ad, and Pharaoh of the tent-pegs gave the lie (to the Messengers)

Insey pehle Nooh ki qaum, aur Aad, aur mekhon (tent-pegs/stakes) wala Firoun

وَثَمُوۡدُ وَقَوۡمُ لُوۡطٍ وَّاَصۡحٰبُ لْئَیْكَةِ​ ؕ اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ الۡاَحۡزَابُ‏  ١٣

and so did Thamud and the people of Lot and the people of Aykah. These were all leagued together.

Aur Samood, aur qaum e Lut, aur aika waley jhutla chuke hain. Jatthay woh thay

اِنۡ كُلٌّ اِلَّا كَذَّبَ الرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ عِقَابِ‏ ١٤

Each of them gave the lie to Messengers and My decree of chastisement came upon them.

Unmein se har ek ne Rasoolon ko jhutlaya aur meri uqubat ka faisla (decree of chastisement )uspar chaspan ho kar raha

وَمَا يَنۡظُرُ هٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ اِلَّا صَيۡحَةً وَّاحِدَةً مَّا لَهَا مِنۡ فَوَاقٍ‏  ١٥

They are waiting for nothing except a single Cry, after which there will be no second Cry.

Yeh log bhi bas ek dhamake ke muntazir hain jiske baad koi dusra dhamaka na hoga

وَقَالُوۡا رَبَّنَا عَجِّلْ لَّنَا قِطَّنَا قَبۡلَ يَوۡمِ الۡحِسَابِ‏ ١٦

They say: “Our Lord, hasten to us our share (of chastisement) before the Day of Reckoning.”

Aur yeh kehte hain ke aey hamare Rubb, yaum ul hisaab(hisab ke din) se pehle hi hamara hissa humein jaldi se dey dey

اِصۡبِرۡ عَلٰى مَا يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ وَاذۡكُرۡ عَبۡدَنَا دَاوٗدَ ذَا الۡاَيۡدِ​ۚ اِنَّـهٗۤ اَوَّابٌ‏ ١٧

(O Prophet), bear with patience what they say, and call to mind Our servant David, who was endowed with great strength and who constantly turned (to Allah).

(Aey Nabi), sabr karo un baaton par jo yeh log banate hain, aur inke saamne hamare banday Dawood ka qissa bayan karo jo badi quwaton ka maalik tha. Har maamle mein Allah ki taraf rujoo karne wala tha

اِنَّا سَخَّرۡنَا الۡجِبَالَ مَعَهٗ يُسَبِّحۡنَ بِالۡعَشِىِّ وَالۡاِشۡرَاقِۙ‏  ١٨

With him We had subjected the mountains that they join him in celebrating Allah's glory, evening and morning,

Humne pahadon ko uske saath musakkhar kar rakkha tha ke subah o shaam woh uske saath tasbeeh karte thay

وَالطَّيۡرَ مَحۡشُوۡرَةً ؕ كُلٌّ لَّـهٗۤ اَوَّابٌ‏ ١٩

and the birds, too, in their flocks, and turn again and again to celebrating Allah's glory.

Parindey simat aate aur sabke sab uski tasbeeh ki taraf mutawajjeh ho jatey thay

وَشَدَدۡنَا مُلۡكَهٗ وَاٰتَيۡنٰهُ الۡحِكۡمَةَ وَفَصۡلَ الۡخِطَابِ‏ ٢٠

And We strengthened his kingdom and endowed him with wisdom and decisive judgement.

Humne uski sultanat mazboot kardi thi, usko hikmat ata ki thi aur faislay-kun baat kehne ki salahiyat bakshi thi

وَهَلۡ اَتٰٮكَ نَبَؤُا الۡخَصۡمِ​ۘ اِذۡ تَسَوَّرُوا الۡمِحۡرَابَۙ‏ ٢١

Has the story of the litigants reached you � of those who entered his private chambers by climbing over the wall?

Phir tumhein kuch khabar pahunchi hai un muqaddame walon ki jo deewaar chadh kar uske baala khaane(private chambers) mein ghus aaye thay

اِذۡ دَخَلُوۡا عَلٰى دَاوٗدَ فَفَزِعَ مِنۡهُمۡ​ قَالُوۡا لَا تَخَفۡ​ۚ خَصۡمٰنِ بَغٰى بَعۡضُنَا عَلٰى بَعۡضٍ فَاحۡكُمۡ بَيۡنَنَا بِالۡحَقِّ وَلَا تُشۡطِطۡ وَاهۡدِنَاۤ اِلٰى سَوَآءِ الصِّرَاطِ‏ ٢٢

As they came upon David � and he was frightened of them � they said: “Be not afraid. We are just two litigants: one of us has committed excess against the other. So judge rightly between us, and be not unjust; and guide us to the Right Way.

Jab woh Dawood ke paas pahunche to woh unhein dekh kar ghabra gaya, unhon ne kaha “dariye nahin, hum do fareeq muqaddama hain jin mein se ek ne dusre par zyadati ki hai. Aap hamare darmiyan theek theek haqq ke saath faisla kardijiye, be-insafi na kijiye aur humein raah e raast bataiye

اِنَّ هٰذَاۤ اَخِىۡ لَهٗ تِسۡعٌ وَّتِسۡعُوۡنَ نَعۡجَةً وَّلِىَ نَعۡجَةٌ وَّاحِدَةٌ فَقَالَ اَكۡفِلۡنِيۡهَا وَعَزَّنِىۡ فِى الۡخِطَابِ‏ ٢٣

Behold, this is my brother; he has ninety-nine ewes and I have only one ewe.” And yet he said: “Give her into my charge,” and he got the better of me in argument.

Yeh meri bhai hai ,iske paas ninanve (ninety nine) dumbiyan(ewes) hai aur mere paas sirf ek hi dumbi (ewe) hai , isne mujhse kaha ke yeh ek dumbi bhi mere hawale karde aur isne guftagu mein mujhe daba liya”

قَالَ لَقَدۡ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤَالِ نَعۡجَتِكَ اِلٰى نِعَاجِهٖ​ ؕ وَاِنَّ كَثِيۡرًا مِّنَ الۡخُلَـطَآءِ لَيَبۡغِىۡ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلٰى بَعۡضٍ اِلَّا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ وَقَلِيۡلٌ مَّا هُمۡ​ ؕ وَظَنَّ دَاوٗدُ اَنَّمَا فَتَنّٰهُ فَاسۡتَغۡفَرَ رَبَّهٗ وَخَرَّ رَاكِعًا وَّاَنَابَ‏ ٢٤

David said: “He has certainly wronged you in seeking to add your ewe to his ewes; and indeed many who live together commit excesses, one to the other, except those that believe and act righteously; and they are but few.” (While so saying) David realized that it is We Who have put him to test; therefore, he sought the forgiveness of his Lord, and fell down, bowing and penitently turning (to Him).

Dawood ne jawab diya: “is shaks ne apni dumbiyon (ewes) ke saath teri dumbi mila lene ka mutalaba karke yaqeenan tujhpar zulm kiya, aur waqiya yeh hai ke mil-jhul kar saath rehne waley log aksar ek dusre par zyadatiyan karte rehte hain, bas wahi log is se bachey huey hain jo iman rakhte hain aur amal e saleh karte hain, aur aisey log kam hi hain.” (Yeh baat kehte kehte) Dawood samajh gaya ke yeh to humne dar-asal iski aazmaish ki hai, chunanche usne apne Rubb se maafi maangi aur sajde mein gir gaya aur rujoo karliya

فَغَفَرۡنَا لَهٗ ذٰ لِكَ​ ؕ وَاِنَّ لَهٗ عِنۡدَنَا لَزُلۡفٰى وَحُسۡنَ مَاٰبٍ‏  ٢٥

Thereupon We forgave him his shortcoming and indeed (an exalted position of) nearness awaits him, and an excellent resort.

Tab humne iska woh kasoor maaf kiya aur yaqeenan hamare haan uske liye taqarrub ka muqaam aur behtar anjaam hai

يٰدَاوٗدُ اِنَّا جَعَلۡنٰكَ خَلِيۡفَةً فِى الۡاَرۡضِ فَاحۡكُمۡ بَيۡنَ النَّاسِ بِالۡحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعِ الۡهَوٰى فَيُضِلَّكَ عَنۡ سَبِيۡلِ اللّٰهِ​ ؕ اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ يَضِلُّوۡنَ عَنۡ سَبِيۡلِ اللّٰهِ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ شَدِيۡدٌۢ بِمَا نَسُوۡا يَوۡمَ الۡحِسَابِ‏ ٢٦

(We said to him): “O David, We have appointed you vicegerent on earth. Therefore, rule among people with justice and do not follow (your) desire lest it should lead you astray from Allah's Path. Allah's severe chastisement awaits those who stray away from Allah's Path, for they had forgotten the Day of Reckoning.

(Humne ussey kaha) “Aey dawood, humne tujhey zameen mein khalifa banaya hai, lihaza tu logon ke darmiyan haqq ke saath hukumat kar, aur khwaish e nafs ki pairwi na kar ke woh tujhey Allah ki raah se bhatka degi. Jo log Allah ki raah se bhatakte hain yaqeenan unke liye sakht saza hai ke woh yaum ul hisaab ko bhool gaye.”

وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا السَّمَآءَ وَالۡاَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا بَاطِلًا ​ؕ ذٰ لِكَ ظَنُّ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا​ۚ فَوَيۡلٌ لِّلَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا مِنَ النَّارِؕ‏ ٢٧

We did not create this heaven and earth and all that lies between them in vain. That is the fancy of those who denied the Truth. So woe from the Fire to all who deny the Truth.

Humne is aasmaan aur zameen ko, aur is duniya ko jo inke darmiyan hai , fizool paida nahin kardiya hai, yeh to un logon ka gumaan hai jinhon ne kufr kiya hai aur aisey kaafiron ke liye barbadi hai jahannum ki aag se

اَمۡ نَجۡعَلُ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ كَالۡمُفۡسِدِيۡنَ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ اَمۡ نَجۡعَلُ الۡمُتَّقِيۡنَ كَالۡفُجَّارِ‏ ٢٨

Shall We then treat alike those that believe and act righteously and those that create mischief on earth? Or treat alike the God-fearing and the wicked?

Kya hum un logon ko jo iman laatey hain aur neik aamaal karte hain aur unko jo zameen mein fasad karne waley hain yaksan kardein? Kya muttaqiyon ko hum faajiron(wicked) jaisa kardein

كِتٰبٌ اَنۡزَلۡنٰهُ اِلَيۡكَ مُبٰرَكٌ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوۡۤا اٰيٰتِهٖ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ اُولُوا الۡاَلۡبَابِ‏ ٢٩

This is the Blessed Book that We have revealed to you, (O Muhammad), that people with understanding may reflect over its verses and those with understanding derive a lesson.

Yeh ek badi barakat wali kitaab hai jo (aey Muhammad) humne tumhari taraf nazil ki hai taa-ke yeh log iski aayat par gaur karein aur aqal o fikr rakhne wale issey sabaq lein

وَوَهَبۡنَا لِدَاوٗدَ سُلَيۡمٰنَ​ ؕ نِعۡمَ الۡعَبۡدُ​ ؕ اِنَّـهٗۤ اَوَّابٌ ؕ ‏ ٣٠

We bestowed upon David (an illustrious son), Solomon. How excellent a servant (of Ours he was)! Indeed he constantly turned to Us in devotion.

Aur Dawood ko humne Sulaiman (jaisa beta) ata kiya, behtareen banda, kasrat se apne Rubb ki taraf rujoo karne wala

اِذۡ عُرِضَ عَلَيۡهِ بِالۡعَشِىِّ الصّٰفِنٰتُ الۡجِيَادُ ۙ‏ ٣١

And when one evening well-trained and running horses of noble breed were brought to him

Kaabil e zikr hai woh mauqa jab shaam ke waqt us ke saamne khoob sidhey (well-trained) huey tez-rau(running) ghoday (horses) pesh kiye gaye

فَقَالَ اِنِّىۡۤ اَحۡبَبۡتُ حُبَّ الۡخَيۡرِ عَنۡ ذِكۡرِ رَبِّىۡ​ۚ حَتّٰى تَوَارَتۡ بِالۡحِجَابِ‏ ٣٢

he said: “Lo! I have come to love this wealth on account of the remembrance of my Lord.” And when the horses disappeared,

To usne kaha “maine is maal ki muhabbat apne Rubb ki yaad ki wajah se ikhtiyar ki hai” yahan tak ke jab woh ghoday (horses) nigaah se ojhal ho gaye

رُدُّوۡهَا عَلَىَّ ؕ فَطَفِقَ مَسۡحًۢا بِالسُّوۡقِ وَ الۡاَعۡنَاقِ‏ ٣٣

(he ordered): “Bring these horses back to me,” and then he began to gently stroke their shanks and necks.

To (usne hukum diya ke) inhein mere paas wapas laao, phir laga unki pindliyon (legs) aur gardano (necks) par haath pherne

وَلَقَدۡ فَتَنَّا سُلَيۡمٰنَ وَاَلۡقَيۡنَا عَلٰى كُرۡسِيِّهٖ جَسَدًا ثُمَّ اَنَابَ‏ ٣٤

Surely We put Solomon to the test and cast upon his throne a mere body. Thereupon he penitently turned (to Us).

Aur (dekho ke) Sulaiman ko bhi humne aazmaish mein daala aur uski kursi par ek jasad (mere body/body without life) laa kar daal diya phir usne rujoo kiya

قَالَ رَبِّ اغۡفِرۡ لِىۡ وَهَبۡ لِىۡ مُلۡكًا لَّا يَنۡۢبَغِىۡ لِاَحَدٍ مِّنۡۢ بَعۡدِىۡ​ۚ اِنَّكَ اَنۡتَ الۡوَهَّابُ‏ ٣٥

He said: “My Lord, forgive me and bestow upon me a kingdom such as none other after me will deserve. Surely You are the Bounteous Giver.”

Aur kaha ke “aey mere Rubb , mujhey maaf karde aur mujhey woh baadshahi de jo mere baad kisi ke liye sazawar na ho, beshak tu hi asal daata hai”

فَسَخَّرۡنَا لَهُ الرِّيۡحَ تَجۡرِىۡ بِاَمۡرِهٖ رُخَآءً حَيۡثُ اَصَابَۙ‏  ٣٦

We subjected the wind to him, so that it blew gently at his bidding, wherever he directed it,

Tab humne uske liye hawa ko musakkhar kardiya jo uske hukum se narmi ke saath chalti thi jidhar woh chahta tha

وَالشَّيٰطِيۡنَ كُلَّ بَنَّآءٍ وَّغَوَّاصٍۙ‏ ٣٧

and We also subjected the devils to him � all kinds of builders and divers;

Aur shayateen ko musakkhar kardiya, har tarah ke meimaar(builders) aur gotakhor (divers)

وَّاٰخَرِيۡنَ مُقَرَّنِيۡنَ فِىۡ الۡاَصۡفَادِ‏ ٣٨

and others that were bound with chains.

Aur dusre jo paband e salasil thay(bound with chains)

هٰذَا عَطَآؤُنَا فَامۡنُنۡ اَوۡ اَمۡسِكۡ بِغَيۡرِ حِسَابٍ‏ ٣٩

“This is Our bestowal. So give or withhold as you wish without account.”

وَاِنَّ لَهٗ عِنۡدَنَا لَزُلۡفٰى وَحُسۡنَ مَاٰبٍ‏ ٤٠

Indeed an exalted position of nearness awaits him and an excellent resort.

Yaqeenan uske liye hamare haan taqarrub ka muqaam aur behtar anjaam hai

وَاذۡكُرۡ عَبۡدَنَاۤ اَيُّوۡبَۘ اِذۡ نَادٰى رَبَّهٗۤ اَنِّىۡ مَسَّنِىَ الشَّيۡطٰنُ بِنُصۡبٍ وَّعَذَابٍؕ‏ ٤١

And remember Our servant Job: when he cried to his Lord: “Behold, Satan has afflicted me with much hardship and suffering.”

Aur hamare banday Ayub ka zikar karo, jab usne apne Rubb ko pukara ke shaytaan ne mujhey sakht takleef aur azaab mein daal diya hai

اُرۡكُضۡ بِرِجۡلِكَ​ ۚ هٰذَا مُغۡتَسَلٌ ۢ بَارِدٌ وَّشَرَابٌ‏ ٤٢

(We commanded him): “Stamp your foot on earth, and here is cool water to wash with and to drink.”

(Humne usey hukum diya) apna paaon (leg) zameen par maar, yeh hai thanda pani nahane ke liya aur peene ke liye

وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهٗۤ اَهۡلَهٗ وَمِثۡلَهُمۡ مَّعَهُمۡ رَحۡمَةً مِّنَّا وَذِكۡرٰى لِاُولِى الۡاَلۡبَابِ‏ ٤٣

And We granted to him his family and also the like of them, as a mercy from Us, and as a reminder to people of understanding,

Humne usey uske ahal o ayaal wapas diye aur unke saath utnay hi aur, apni taraf se rehmat ke taur par, aur aqal o fikar rakhne walon ke liye dars ke taur par

وَخُذۡ بِيَدِكَ ضِغۡثًا فَاضۡرِبْ بِّهٖ وَلَا تَحۡنَثۡ​ؕ اِنَّا وَجَدۡنٰهُ صَابِرًا​ ؕ نِعۡمَ الۡعَبۡدُ​ ؕ اِنَّـهٗۤ اَوَّابٌ‏ ٤٤

(and We said to him): “Take in your hand a bundle of rushes and strike with it, and do not break your oath.” Indeed We found him steadfast. How excellent a servant (of Ours) he was. Indeed he constantly turned (to his Lord).

(Aur humne issey kaha) tinkon ka ek mutta lay (bundle of rushes) aur ussey maar de, apni kasam na todh, humne usey saabir paya, behtareen banda, apne Rubb ki taraf bahut rujoo karne wala

وَاذۡكُرۡ عِبٰدَنَاۤ اِبۡرٰهِيۡمَ وَاِسۡحٰقَ وَيَعۡقُوۡبَ اُولِى الۡاَيۡدِىۡ وَالۡاَبۡصَارِ‏ ٤٥

And remember Our servants � Abraham, Isaac and Jacob � they were endowed with great strength and vision.

Aur hamare bandon , Ibrahim aur Ishaq aur Yaqub ka zikar karo badi quwwat e amail rakhne wale aur deedhawar (strength and vision)log thay

اِنَّاۤ اَخۡلَصۡنٰهُمۡ بِخَالِصَةٍ ذِكۡرَى الدَّارِ​ۚ‏ ٤٦

Verily We exalted them in consideration of a sterling quality: their remembrance of the Abode of the Hereafter.

Humne unko ek khaalis siffat ki bina par barguzida kiya tha, aur woh daar-e-aakhirat ki yaad thi

وَاِنَّهُمۡ عِنۡدَنَا لَمِنَ الۡمُصۡطَفَيۡنَ الۡاَخۡيَارِؕ‏ ٤٧

In Our sight they are among the chosen and excellent ones.

Yaqeenan hamare haan unka shumaar chunay huey neik ashkhaas(excellent ones) mein hai

وَاذۡكُرۡ اِسۡمٰعِيۡلَ وَ الۡيَسَعَ وَذَا الۡكِفۡلِ​ؕ وَكُلٌّ مِّنَ الۡاَخۡيَارِؕ‏  ٤٨

And remember Ishmael, Elisha, and Dhu al-Kifl.All were of the best.

Aur Ismail aur Al-yasa(Elisha) aur Zulkifl ka zikr karo, yeh sab neik logon mein se thay

هٰذَا ذِكۡرٌ​ؕ وَاِنَّ لِلۡمُتَّقِيۡنَ لَحُسۡنَ مَاٰبٍۙ‏ ٤٩

This was a remembrance. An excellent retreat awaits the God-fearing

Yeh ek zikar tha. (Ab suno ke) muttaqi logon ke liye yaqeenan behtareen thikana hai

جَنّٰتِ عَدۡنٍ مُّفَتَّحَةً لَّهُمُ الۡاَبۡوَابُ​ۚ‏ ٥٠

� everlasting Gardens with gates wide open for them

Hamesha rehne wali jannatein jinke darwaze unke liye khuley hongey

مُتَّكِـــِٕيۡنَ فِيۡهَا يَدۡعُوۡنَ فِيۡهَا بِفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيۡرَةٍ وَّشَرَابٍ‏  ٥١

wherein they shall recline, wherein they shall ask for abundant fruit and drinks,

Unmein woh takiye lagaye baithay hongey, khoob khoob fawake aur mashroobat (abundant fruit and drinks) talab kar rahey hongey

وَعِنۡدَهُمۡ قٰصِرٰتُ الطَّرۡفِ اَتۡرَابٌ‏ ٥٢

and wherein there shall be with them well-matched, bashful mates.

Aur unke paas sharmili humsin biwiyan hongi

هٰذَا مَا تُوۡعَدُوۡنَ لِيَوۡمِ الۡحِسَابِ‏ ٥٣

All this is what you are promised for the Day of Judgement.

Yeh woh chezein hain jinhein hisaab ke din ata karne ka tumse wada kiya ja raha hai

اِنَّ هٰذَا لَرِزۡقُنَا مَا لَهٗ مِنۡ نَّـفَادٍ ​ۖ ​ۚ‏ ٥٤

This is Our provision for you, never to end.

Yeh hamara rizq hai jo kabhi khatam honaywala nahin

هٰذَا​ ؕ وَاِنَّ لِلطّٰغِيۡنَ لَشَرَّ مَاٰبٍ ۙ‏ ٥٥

All this (is for the God-fearing). But for the transgressors, an evil resort awaits them �

Yeh to hai muttaqiyon ka anjaam aur sarkashon ke liye badhtareen (evil) thikana hai

جَهَـنَّمَ​ ۚ يَصۡلَوۡنَهَا​ ۚ فَبِئۡسَ الۡمِهَادُ‏ ٥٦

Hell, where they will be roasted. An evil place to dwell!

Jahannum jismein woh jhulse jayenge. Bahut hi buri qayamgaah

هٰذَا ۙ فَلۡيَذُوۡقُوۡهُ حَمِيۡمٌ وَّغَسَّاقٌ ۙ‏ ٥٧

All this (is for them); so let them taste boiling water and pus,

Yeh hai unke liye, pas woh maza chakhein khautley (boiling) huey pani aur peep lahu (pus)

وَّاٰخَرُ مِنۡ شَكۡلِهٖۤ اَزۡوَاجٌ ؕ‏ ٥٨

and other sufferings of the kind.

Aur isi qisam ki dusri talkhiyon ka

هٰذَا فَوۡجٌ مُّقۡتَحِمٌ مَّعَكُمۡ​ۚ لَا مَرۡحَبًۢـا بِهِمۡ​ؕ اِنَّهُمۡ صَالُوا النَّارِ‏ ٥٩

(Observing their followers advancing to Hell they will say, among themselves: “This is a troop rushing in to you. There is no welcome for them. They are destined to roast in the Fire.”

(woh jahannum ki taraf apne pairawon ko aatey dekh kar aapas mein kahenge) “Yeh ek lashkar tumhare paas ghusa chala aa raha hai, koi khushamadeed (welcome) inke liye nahin hai, yeh aag mein jhulasne waley hain”

قَالُوۡا بَلۡ اَنۡتُمۡ لَا مَرۡحَبًۢـا بِكُمۡ​ؕ اَنۡتُمۡ قَدَّمۡتُمُوۡهُ لَنَا​ۚ فَبِئۡسَ الۡقَرَارُ‏ ٦٠

They will reply: “Rather, no welcome to you. (You will roast in Hell.) It is you who led us to this end. What an evil resort!”

Woh unko jawab denge “ nahin balke tum hi jhulse ja rahe ho, koi khair maqdam tumhare liye nahin. Tumhi to yeh anjaam hamare aagey laye ho. Kaisi buri hai yeh jaaye qaraar”

قَالُوۡا رَبَّنَا مَنۡ قَدَّمَ لَنَا هٰذَا فَزِدۡهُ عَذَابًا ضِعۡفًا فِى النَّارِ‏  ٦١

They will say: “Our Lord, give twofold punishment in the Fire to him who has led us to this.”

Phir woh kahenge “Aey hamare Rubb, jisne humein is anjaam ko pahunchane ka bandobast kiya usko dozakh ka dohra azaab de”

وَقَالُوۡا مَا لَنَا لَا نَرٰى رِجَالًا كُنَّا نَـعُدُّهُمۡ مِّنَ الۡاَشۡرَارِؕ‏  ٦٢

They will say to one another: “But why do we not see those whom we considered him among the wicked?

Aur woh aapas mein kahenge “kya baat hai, hum un logon ko kahin nahin dekhte jinehin hum duniya mein bura samajte thay

اَ تَّخَذۡنٰهُمۡ سِخۡرِيًّا اَمۡ زَاغَتۡ عَنۡهُمُ الۡاَبۡصَارُ‏ ٦٣

Is it that we mistakenly made fun of them; or have they disappeared from our sight?”

Hunme yunhi unka mazaaq bana liya tha, ya woh kahin nazaron se ojhal hain?”

اِنَّ ذٰ لِكَ لَحَقّ ٌ تَخَاصُمُ اَهۡلِ النَّارِ‏ ٦٤

Verily all this is true. This is how the inmates of the Fire will dispute among themselves.

Beshak yeh baat sacchi hai, ehle dozakh mein yahi kuch jhagde honay waley hain

قُلۡ اِنَّمَاۤ اَنَا مُنۡذِرٌ ​​ۖ  وَّمَا مِنۡ اِلٰهٍ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ الۡوَاحِدُ الۡقَهَّارُ​ ۚ‏ ٦٥

Tell them, (O Prophet): “I am nothing but a warner. There is no deity but Allah, the One, the Supreme,

(Aey Nabi) insey kaho, “ main to bas khabardar kardene wala hoon. Koi haqeeqi mabood nahin magar Allah, jo yakta hai, sab par gaalib

رَبُّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا الۡعَزِيۡزُ الۡغَفَّارُ‏ ٦٦

the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is in between them, the Most Mighty, the Most Forgiving.”

Aasmaano aur zameen ka maalik aur un saari cheezon ka maalik jo inke darmiyan hain, zabardast aur darguzar karne wala”

قُلۡ هُوَ نَبَؤٌا عَظِيۡمٌۙ‏ ٦٧

Say: “This is a tiding of tremendous import

اَنۡتُمۡ عَنۡهُ مُعۡرِضُوۡنَ‏ ٦٨

from which you are turning away.”

Jisko sunkar tum mooh pherte ho”

مَا كَانَ لِىَ مِنۡ عِلۡمٍۢ بِالۡمَلَاِ الۡاَعۡلٰٓى اِذۡ يَخۡتَصِمُوۡنَ‏  ٦٩

(Tell them): “I had no knowledge of the High Council when they were disputing.

(Insey kaho) “Mujhey us waqt ki koi khabar na thi jab mala-e-aala (high council) mein jhagda ho raha tha

اِنۡ يُّوۡحٰۤى اِلَىَّ اِلَّاۤ اَنَّمَاۤ اَنَا۟ نَذِيۡرٌ مُّبِيۡنٌ‏ ٧٠

I am told (about matters) by means of revelation only because I am a clear warner.”

Mujhko to wahee (revelation/inspiration) ke zariye se yeh baatein sirf isliye batayi jaati hain ke main khula khula khabardar karne wala hoon”

اِذۡ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلۡمَلٰٓٮِٕكَةِ اِنِّىۡ خَالِـقٌ ۢ بَشَرًا مِّنۡ طِيۡنٍ‏  ٧١

When your Lord said to the angels: “Verily I am creating a human being from clay.

Jab tere Rubb ne farishton se kaha “main mitti se ek bashar banane wala hoon

فَاِذَا سَوَّيۡتُهٗ وَنَفَخۡتُ فِيۡهِ مِنۡ رُّوۡحِىۡ فَقَعُوۡا لَهٗ سٰجِدِيۡنَ‏  ٧٢

After I have created him and breathed into him of My spirit, fall you down, prostrating yourselves to him.”

Phir jab main usey puri tarah bana doon aur usmein apni rooh phoonk doon to tum uske aagey sajde mein gir jao”
