Surah 85

085 surah

وَالسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ الۡبُرُوۡجِۙ‏ ١

By the heaven with its impregnable castles;

Kasam hai mazboot qalon waley (impregnable castles )aasman ki

وَالۡيَوۡمِ الۡمَوۡعُوۡدِۙ‏ ٢

by the Promised Day,

Aur us din ki jiska wada kiya gaya hai

وَشَاهِدٍ وَّمَشۡهُوۡدٍؕ‏ ٣

and by the witness and what is witnessed:

Aur dekhnay walay ki aur dekhi janey wali cheez ki

قُتِلَ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡاُخۡدُوۡدِۙ‏ ٤

the people of the pit were destroyed

kay maarey gaye gaddey(pit) waley

النَّارِ ذَاتِ الۡوَقُوۡدِۙ‏ ٥

with fire abounding in fuel,

uss gaddey(pit) waley] jis mei khoob bhadakte huey indhan ki aag thi

اِذۡ هُمۡ عَلَيۡهَا قُعُوۡدٌ ۙ‏ ٦

while they sat around it,

jabke woh us gaddey ke kinare par baithay huey thay

وَّهُمۡ عَلٰى مَا يَفۡعَلُوۡنَ بِالۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ شُهُوۡدٌ ؕ‏ ٧

and were witnessing what they did to the believers.

Aur jo kuch woh imaan laney walon ke saath kar rahey thay usey dekh rahey thay

وَمَا نَقَمُوۡا مِنۡهُمۡ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ يُّؤۡمِنُوۡا بِاللّٰهِ الۡعَزِيۡزِ الۡحَمِيۡدِۙ‏  ٨

Against these they had no grudge except that they believed in Allah, the Most Mighty, the Most Praiseworthy,

Aur un ehley imaan se unki dushmani iske siwa kisi wajah se na thi ke woh us khuda par imaan le aaye thay jo zabardast aur apni zaat mei aap mahmood(praiseworthy) hai

الَّذِىۡ لَهٗ مُلۡكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ​ؕ وَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ شَهِيۡدٌ ؕ‏ ٩

to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Allah witnesses everything.

Jo aasmano aur zameen ki sultanat ka maalik hai, aur woh khuda sab kuch dekh raha hai

اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ فَتَـنُوا الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ وَ الۡمُؤۡمِنٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَتُوۡبُوۡا فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ الۡحَرِيۡقِؕ‏ ١٠

Surely those who tormented the believing men and the believing women and then did not repent, theirs shall be the chastisement of Hell, and theirs shall be the chastisement of burning.

Jin logon ne momin mardon aur auraton par zulm o sitam toda aur phir ussey taib na huey, yaqeenan unke liye jahannum ka azaab hai aur unke liye jalaye janey ki saza hai

اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَهُمۡ جَنّٰتٌ تَجۡرِىۡ مِنۡ تَحۡتِهَا الۡاَنۡهٰرُ ؕ ذٰلِكَ الۡفَوۡزُ الۡكَبِيۡرُؕ‏ ١١

As for those who believed and acted righteously, theirs shall be Gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great triumph.

Jo log imaan laaye aur jinho ne neik amal kiye yaqeenan unke liye jannat ke baagh hain jinke nichey nehrein behti hongi, yeh hai badi kamyabi

اِنَّ بَطۡشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيۡدٌ ؕ‏ ١٢

Stern indeed is your Lord's punishment.

Dar haqeeqat tumharey Rubb ki pakad badi sakht hai

اِنَّهٗ هُوَ يُبۡدِئُ وَيُعِيۡدُ​ ۚ‏ ١٣

He it is Who creates for the first time and He it is Who will create again,

Wahi pehli baar paida karta hai aur wahi dobara paida karega

وَهُوَ الۡغَفُوۡرُ الۡوَدُوۡدُۙ‏ ١٤

and He is the Ever Forgiving, the Most Loving

Aur woh bakshne wala hai, mohabbat karne wala hai

ذُو الۡعَرۡشِ الۡمَجِيۡدُ ۙ‏ ١٥

– the Lord of the Glorious Throne,

Arsh ka maalik hai, buzurg-o-bartar hai

فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيۡدُ ؕ‏ ١٦

the Executor of what He wills.

Aur jo kuch chahey kar daalney wala hai

هَلۡ اَتٰٮكَ حَدِيۡثُ الۡجُـنُوۡدِۙ‏ ١٧

Has the story of the armies reached you,

Kya tumhey lashkaron ki khabar pahunchi hai

فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَثَمُوۡدَؕ‏ ١٨

the armies of Pharaoh and Thamud?

Firoun aur samood (ke lashkaron) ki

بَلِ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا فِىۡ تَكۡذِيۡبٍۙ‏ ١٩

The unbelievers are indeed engaged in denying it, calling it a lie,

Magar jinho ne kufr kiya hai woh jhutlaney mein lagey huey hain

وَّاللّٰهُ مِنۡ وَّرَآٮِٕهِمۡ مُّحِيۡطٌۚ‏ ٢٠

although Allah surrounds them.

Halaanke Allah ne unko gherey mein le rakha hai

بَلۡ هُوَ قُرۡاٰنٌ مَّجِيۡدٌ ۙ‏ ٢١

Nay; but this is a glorious Qur'an,

(unke jhutlaney se iss quran ka kuch nahin bigadta) balkey yeh quran buland paya hai

فِىۡ لَوۡحٍ مَّحۡفُوۡظٍ‏ ٢٢

inscribed on a well-guarded Tablet.

Us loah mei (naqsh hai) jo mehfooz hai
