Surah 92

092 surah

وَالَّيۡلِ اِذَا يَغۡشٰىۙ‏ ١

By the night when it enshrouds,

Kasam hai raat ki jabke woh chaa jaaye

وَالنَّهَارِ اِذَا تَجَلّٰىۙ‏ ٢

and by the day when it breaks in its glory,

Aur din ki jabke woh roshan ho

وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالۡاُنۡثٰٓىۙ‏ ٣

and by Him Who created the male and the female:

Aur us zaat ki jisne nar(male) aur maada(female) ko paida kiya

اِنَّ سَعۡيَكُمۡ لَشَتّٰىؕ‏ ٤

surely your strivings are divergent.

Dar haqeeqat tum logon ki koshishein mukhtalif qism ki hai

فَاَمَّا مَنۡ اَعۡطٰى وَاتَّقٰىۙ‏ ٥

As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him),

To jisne (rah e khuda mein) maal diya aur (khuda ki nafarmani se) parhez kiya

وَصَدَّقَ بِالۡحُسۡنٰىۙ‏ ٦

and affirmed the Truth of goodness:

Aur bhalayi ko sach mana

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهٗ لِلۡيُسۡرٰىؕ‏ ٧

We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss.

Usko hum aasan raastey kay liye sahulat denge

وَاَمَّا مَنۡۢ بَخِلَ وَاسۡتَغۡنٰىۙ‏ ٨

As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah),

Aur jisne bukhl(kanjoosi) kiya aur (apney khuda se) be niyazi(self-sufficient/independent) barti

وَكَذَّبَ بِالۡحُسۡنٰىۙ‏ ٩

and denied the Truth of goodness:

aur bhalayi ko jhutlaya

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهٗ لِلۡعُسۡرٰىؕ‏ ١٠

We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship,

Usko hum sakht rastey kay liye sahulat dengey

وَمَا يُغۡنِىۡ عَنۡهُ مَالُهٗۤ اِذَا تَرَدّٰىؕ‏ ١١

and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes.

Aur uska maal aakhir uske kis kaam aayega jabke woh halaq ho jaye

اِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا لَـلۡهُدٰىۖ‏ ١٢

Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way,

Beshak rasta batana hamare zimmey hai

وَاِنَّ لَـنَا لَـلۡاٰخِرَةَ وَالۡاُوۡلٰى‏ ١٣

and to Us belong the Next Life and the present.

aur dar haqeeqat aakhirat aur duniya dono kay hum hi malik hai

فَاَنۡذَرۡتُكُمۡ نَارًا تَلَظّٰى​ۚ‏ ١٤

I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire,

Pas maine tumko khabardar kar diya hai bhadakti hui aag se

لَا يَصۡلٰٮهَاۤ اِلَّا الۡاَشۡقَىۙ‏ ١٥

where none shall burn except the most wicked,

Usmein nahin jhulsega magar woh intihayi badbakth

الَّذِىۡ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّٰىؕ‏ ١٦

who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it.

jisne jhutlaya aur mooh phera

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الۡاَتۡقَىۙ‏ ١٧

But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it,

Aur usse door rakkha jayega woh nihayat parhezgaar

الَّذِىۡ يُؤۡتِىۡ مَالَهٗ يَتَزَكّٰى​ۚ‏ ١٨

the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself;

Jo paakiza honay ki khatir apna maal deta hai

وَمَا لِاَحَدٍ عِنۡدَهٗ مِنۡ نِّعۡمَةٍ تُجۡزٰٓىۙ‏ ١٩

not as payment for any favours that he received,

Uspar kisi ka koi ehsan nahin hai jiska badla usey dena ho

اِلَّا ابۡتِغَآءَ وَجۡهِ رَبِّهِ الۡاَعۡلٰى​ۚ‏ ٢٠

but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High.

Woh to sirf apne Rubb-e-bartrar ki raza joii ke liye yeh kaam karta hai

وَلَسَوۡفَ يَرۡضٰى‏ ٢١

He will surely be well-pleased (with him).

Aur zaroor woh (us se) khush hoga
