Al-Mu'minun

Surah 23

023 surah

قَدۡ اَفۡلَحَ الۡمُؤۡمِنُوۡنَۙ‏ ١

The believers have indeed attained true success:

— A. Maududi (English Tafhim commentary)

Yaqeenan falaah payi hai iman laney walon ne jo

الَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ فِىۡ صَلَاتِهِمۡ خَاشِعُوۡنَ ۙ‏ ٢

those who, in their Prayers, humble themselves;

Apni namaz mein khushu ikhtiyar karte hain (Salat with humility)

وَالَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ عَنِ اللَّغۡوِ مُعۡرِضُوۡنَۙ‏ ٣

who avoid whatever is vain and frivolous;

Laghviyat (vain things) se door rehte hain

وَالَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ لِلزَّكٰوةِ فَاعِلُوۡنَۙ‏ ٤

who observe Zakah;

Zakaat ke tareeqe par aamil hotey hain

وَالَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ لِفُرُوۡجِهِمۡ حٰفِظُوۡنَۙ‏ ٥

who strictly guard their private parts

Apni sharmgaahon ki hifazat karte hain

اِلَّا عَلٰٓى اَزۡوَاجِهِمۡ اَوۡ مَا مَلَـكَتۡ اَيۡمَانُهُمۡ فَاِنَّهُمۡ غَيۡرُ مَلُوۡمِيۡنَ​ۚ‏ ٦

save from their wives, or those whom their right hands possess; for with regard to them they are free from blame "

Siwaye apni biwiyon ke aur un auraton ke jo unki milk e yameen mein hon (right hand posseses) ke unpar (mehfooz na rakhne mein) woh qabil e malamat nahin hain

فَمَنِ ابۡتَغٰى وَرَآءَ ذٰ لِكَ فَاُولٰٓٮِٕكَ هُمُ الۡعٰدُوۡنَ​ ۚ‏ ٧

As for those who seek beyond that, they are transgressors"

Albatta jo uske alawa kuch aur chahein wahi zyadati karne waley hain

وَالَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ لِاَمٰنٰتِهِمۡ وَعَهۡدِهِمۡ رَاعُوۡنَ ۙ‏ ٨

who are true to their trusts and their covenants,

Apni amanaton (trusts) aur apne ahad o paiman (promises) ka paas rakhte hain

وَالَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ عَلٰى صَلَوٰتِهِمۡ يُحَافِظُوۡنَ​ۘ‏ ٩

and who guard their Prayers.

Aur apni namazon ki muhafizat (hifazat) karte hain

اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ هُمُ الۡوَارِثُوۡنَ ۙ‏ ١٠

Such are the inheritors

Yahi log woh waris hain

الَّذِيۡنَ يَرِثُوۡنَ الۡفِرۡدَوۡسَؕ هُمۡ فِيۡهَا خٰلِدُوۡنَ‏ ١١

that shall inherit Paradise; and in it they shall abide for ever.

Jo miraas mein firdous payenge aur usmein hamesha rahenge

وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا الۡاِنۡسَانَ مِنۡ سُلٰلَةٍ مِّنۡ طِيۡنٍ​ ۚ‏ ١٢

We created man out of the extract of clay,

Humne Insaan ko mitti ke saatt (essence of clay) se banaya

ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنٰهُ نُطۡفَةً فِىۡ قَرَارٍ مَّكِيۡنٍ‏ ١٣

then We made him into a drop of life-germ, then We placed it in a safe depository,

Phir usey ek mehfooz jaga tapki hui boondh mein tabdeel kiya

ثُمَّ خَلَقۡنَا النُّطۡفَةَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقۡنَا الۡعَلَقَةَ مُضۡغَةً فَخَلَقۡنَا الۡمُضۡغَةَ عِظٰمًا فَكَسَوۡنَا الۡعِظٰمَ لَحۡمًا ثُمَّ اَنۡشَاۡنٰهُ خَلۡقًا اٰخَرَ​ ؕ فَتَبٰـرَكَ اللّٰهُ اَحۡسَنُ الۡخٰلِقِيۡنَ ؕ‏ ١٤

then We made this drop into a clot, then We made the clot into a lump, then We made the lump into bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, and then We caused it to grow into another creation. Thus Most Blessed is Allah, the Best of all those that create.

Phir us boondh ko lothday ki shakal di, phir lothday ko boti bana diya, phir boti ki haddiyan (bones) banayin, phir haddiyon par gosht chadhaya. Phir usey ek dusri hi makhlooq bana khada kiya. Pas bada hi ba-barakat hai Allah, sab karigaron se accha kaarigar(creator)

ثُمَّ اِنَّكُمۡ بَعۡدَ ذٰلِكَ لَمَيِّتُوۡنَؕ‏ ١٥

Thereafter you are destined to die,

Phir iske baad tumko zaroor marna hai

ثُمَّ اِنَّكُمۡ يَوۡمَ الۡقِيٰمَةِ تُبۡعَثُوۡنَ‏ ١٦

and then on the Day of Resurrection you shall certainly be raised up.

Phir qayamat ke roz yaqeenan tum uthaye jaogey

وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعَ طَرَآٮِٕقَ ۖ  وَمَا كُنَّا عَنِ الۡخَـلۡقِ غٰفِلِيۡنَ‏ ١٧

We have indeed fashioned above you seven paths. Never were We unaware of the task of creation.

Aur tumhare upar humne saat (seven) raastey banaye, takhleeq ke kaam se hum kuch na-balad na thay (We are never unmindful of (our) Creation

وَاَنۡزَلۡنَا مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءًۢ بِقَدَرٍ فَاَسۡكَنّٰهُ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ​ۖ وَاِنَّا عَلٰى ذَهَابٍۢ بِهٖ لَقٰدِرُوۡنَ​ ۚ‏ ١٨

We sent down water from the sky in right measure, and caused it to stay in the earth, and We have the power to cause it to vanish (in the manner We please).

Aur aasmaan se humne theek hisaab ke mutabiq ek khaas miqdar mein pani utara aur usko zameen mein thehara diya. Hum usey jis tarah chahein gayab kar sakte hain

فَاَنۡشَاۡنَا لَـكُمۡ بِهٖ جَنّٰتٍ مِّنۡ نَّخِيۡلٍ وَّ اَعۡنَابٍ​ ۘ لَـكُمۡ فِيۡهَا فَوَاكِهُ كَثِيۡرَةٌ وَّمِنۡهَا تَاۡكُلُوۡنَ ۙ‏ ١٩

Then through water We caused gardens of date-palms and vines to grow for you wherein you have an abundance of delicious fruits and from them you derive your livelihood.

Phir is pani ke zariye se humne tumhare liye khajoor aur angoor ke baagh paida kardiye, tumhare liye in baaghon mein bahut se lazeez phal hain aur unsey tum rozi haasil karte ho

وَشَجَرَةً تَخۡرُجُ مِنۡ طُوۡرِ سَيۡنَآءَ تَنۡۢبُتُ بِالدُّهۡنِ وَصِبۡغٍ لِّلۡاٰكِلِيۡنَ‏ ٢٠

And We also produced the tree which springs forth from Mount Sinai, containing oil and sauce for those that eat.

Aur woh darakht bhi humne paida kiya jo Tur-e-seena (mount sinai) se nikalta hai, teil (oil) bhi liye huey ugta hai aur khane walon ke liye saalan bhi

وَ اِنَّ لَـكُمۡ فِى الۡاَنۡعَامِ لَعِبۡرَةً​   ؕ نُسۡقِيۡكُمۡ مِّمَّا فِىۡ بُطُوۡنِهَا وَلَـكُمۡ فِيۡهَا مَنَافِعُ كَثِيۡرَةٌ وَّمِنۡهَا تَاۡكُلُوۡنَ ۙ‏ ٢١

And indeed there is also a lesson for you in cattle. We provide you with drink out of what they have in their bellies; and you have many other benefits in them: you eat of them,

Aur haqeeqat yeh hai ke tumhare liye maweshiyon mein bhi ek sabaq hai unke paithon (bellies) mein jo kuch hai usi mein se ek cheez hum tumhein pilatey hain, aur tumhare liye unmein bahut se dusre faiyde bhi hain

وَعَلَيۡهَا وَعَلَى الۡـفُلۡكِ تُحۡمَلُوۡنَ‏ ٢٢

and are carried on them and also on ships.

Unko tum khate ho aur unpar aur kashtiyon par sawaar bhi kiye jatey ho

وَلَقَدۡ اَرۡسَلۡنَا نُوۡحًا اِلٰى قَوۡمِهٖ فَقَالَ يٰقَوۡمِ اعۡبُدُوا اللّٰهَ مَا لَـكُمۡ مِّنۡ اِلٰهٍ غَيۡرُهٗ ؕ اَفَلَا تَتَّقُوۡنَ‏ ٢٣

We sent Noah to his people, and he said: "My people! Serve Allah; you have no deity other than He. Do you have no fear?"

Humne Nooh ko uski qaum ki taraf bheja, usne kaha “ aey meri qaum ke logon, Allah ki bandagi karo, uske siwa tumhare liye koi aur mabood nahin hai, kya tum darte nahin ho?”

فَقَالَ الۡمَلَؤُا الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا مِنۡ قَوۡمِهٖ مَا هٰذَاۤ اِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ ۙ يُرِيۡدُ اَنۡ يَّـتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ ؕ وَلَوۡ شَآءَ اللّٰهُ لَاَنۡزَلَ مَلٰٓٮِٕكَةً  ۖۚ مَّا سَمِعۡنَا بِهٰذَا فِىۡۤ اٰبَآٮِٕنَا الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَ​ ۚ‏ ٢٤

But the notables among his people had refused to believe, and said: "This is none other than a mortal like yourselves who desires to attain superiority over you. Had Allah wanted (to send any Messengers) He would have sent down angels. We have heard nothing like this in the time of our forebears of old (that humans were sent as Messengers).

Uski qaum ke jin sardaaron ne maanne se inkar kiya woh kehne lagey ke “yeh shaks kuch nahin hai magar ek bashar(Insaan) tum hi jaisa. Iski garz yeh hai ke tumpar bartari (superiority) haasil karey. Allah ko agar bhejna hota to farishtey bhejta.Yeh baat to humne kabhi apne baap dada ke waqton mein suni hi nahin ( ke bashar Rasool bankar aaye)

اِنۡ هُوَ اِلَّا رَجُلٌۢ بِهٖ جِنَّةٌ فَتَرَبَّصُوۡا بِهٖ حَتّٰى حِيۡنٍ‏ ٢٥

He is a person who has been seized with a little madness; so wait for a while (perhaps he will improve)."

Kuch nahin , bas is aadmi ko zara junoon lahaq(possessed) ho gaya hai, kuch muddat aur dekhlo [ ( shayad ifaqa ho jaaye)( may be he is cured)]”

قَالَ رَبِّ انْصُرۡنِىۡ بِمَا كَذَّبُوۡنِ‏ ٢٦

Noah said: "My Lord! Come to my help at their accusation that I am lying."

Nooh ne kaha “parwardigar, in logon ne jo meri takzeeb ki hai ispar ab tu hi meri nusrat farma.”

فَاَوۡحَيۡنَاۤ اِلَيۡهِ اَنِ اصۡنَعِ الۡفُلۡكَ بِاَعۡيُنِنَا وَ وَحۡيِنَا فَاِذَا جَآءَ اَمۡرُنَا وَفَارَ التَّـنُّوۡرُ​ۙ فَاسۡلُكۡ فِيۡهَا مِنۡ كُلٍّ زَوۡجَيۡنِ اثۡنَيۡنِ وَاَهۡلَكَ اِلَّا مَنۡ سَبَقَ عَلَيۡهِ الۡقَوۡلُ مِنۡهُمۡ​ۚ وَلَا تُخَاطِبۡنِىۡ فِى الَّذِيۡنَ ظَلَمُوۡا​ۚ اِنَّهُمۡ مُّغۡرَقُوۡنَ‏ ٢٧

Thereupon We revealed to him, saying: "Build the Ark under Our eyes and according to Our revelation. And when Our command comes to pass and the oven boils over, take on board a pair each from every species, and also take your household except those of them against whom sentence has already been passed and do not plead to Me on behalf of the wrong-doers. They are doomed to be drowned.

Humne uspar wahee ki ke “hamari nigrani mein aur hamari wahee ke mutabiq kashti (ark) tayyar kar. Phir jab hamara hukum aa jaye aur tannur ubal paday to har qisam ke jaanwaron mein se ek ek joda lekar usmein sawaar ho ja, aur apne ehal o ayaal ko bhi saath le, siwai unke jinke khilaf pehle faisla ho chuka hai, aur zaalimon ke maamle mein mujhse kuch na kehna, yeh ab garq (doob/ drown) honay waley hain

فَاِذَا اسۡتَوَيۡتَ اَنۡتَ وَمَنۡ مَّعَكَ عَلَى الۡـفُلۡكِ فَقُلِ الۡحَمۡدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِىۡ نَجّٰٮنَا مِنَ الۡقَوۡمِ الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ‏ ٢٨

And then when you and those accompanying you are firmly seated in the Ark, say: "Thanks be to Allah Who has delivered us from the wrong-doing people."

Phir jab tu apne saathiyon sameth kashti par sawar ho jaye to keh, shukar hai us khuda ka jisne humein zaalim logon se nijaat di

وَقُلْ رَّبِّ اَنۡزِلۡنِىۡ مُنۡزَلًا مُّبٰـرَكًا وَّاَنۡتَ خَيۡرُ الۡمُنۡزِلِيۡنَ‏  ٢٩

And say: "My Lord! Make my landing a blessed landing, for You are the Best of those Who can cause people to land in safety."

Aur keh, parwardigar, mujhko barakat wali jagah utaar aur tu behtareen jagah dene wala hai.”

اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰ لِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ وَّاِنۡ كُنَّا لَمُبۡتَلِيۡنَ‏ ٣٠

There are great Signs in this story; and surely We do put people to test.

Is qissey mein badi nishaniyan hain aur aazmaish to hum karke hi rehte hain

ثُمَّ اَنۡشَاۡنَا مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ قَرۡنًا اٰخَرِيۡنَ​ ۚ‏ ٣١

Then, after them, We brought forth another generation;

Inke baad humne ek dusre daur ki qaum uthayi

فَاَرۡسَلۡنَا فِيۡهِمۡ رَسُوۡلًا مِّنۡهُمۡ اَنِ اعۡبُدُوا اللّٰهَ مَا لَـكُمۡ مِّنۡ اِلٰهٍ غَيۡرُهٗ​ ؕ اَفَلَا تَتَّقُوۡنَ‏ ٣٢

and We sent among them a Messenger from among themselves, saying: "Serve Allah; you have no god other than He. Do you have no fear?"

Phir un mein khud unhi ki qaum ka ek Rasool bheja ( jisne unhein dawat di) ke Allah ki bandagi karo, tumhare liye uske siwa koi aur maabood nahin hai, kya tum darte nahin ho

وَقَالَ الۡمَلَاُ مِنۡ قَوۡمِهِ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا وَكَذَّبُوۡا بِلِقَآءِ الۡاٰخِرَةِ وَاَتۡرَفۡنٰهُمۡ فِى الۡحَيٰوةِ الدُّنۡيَا ۙ مَا هٰذَاۤ اِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ ۙ يَاۡكُلُ مِمَّا تَاۡكُلُوۡنَ مِنۡهُ وَيَشۡرَبُ مِمَّا تَشۡرَبُوۡنَ ۙ‏ ٣٣

The notables among his people who had refused to believe and who denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and those whom We had endowed with ease and comfort in this life, cried out: "This is no other than a mortal like yourselves who eats what you eat and drinks what you drink.

Uski qaum ke jin sardaron ne maanne se inkar kiya aur aakhirat ki peshi ko jhutlaya, jinko humne duniya ki zindagi mein aasuda kar rakkha tha, woh kehne lagey “ye shaks kuch nahin hai magar ek bashar tum hi jaisa, jo kuch tum khate ho wahi yeh khata hai aur jo kuch tum peete ho wahi yeh peeta hai

وَلَٮِٕنۡ اَطَعۡتُمۡ بَشَرًا مِّثۡلَـكُمۡ اِنَّكُمۡ اِذًا لَّخٰسِرُوۡنَۙ‏  ٣٤

If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, you will certainly be losers.

Ab agar tumne apne hi jaise ek bashar ki itaat qabool karli to tum ghatay hi mein rahey

اَيَعِدُكُمۡ اَنَّكُمۡ اِذَا مِتُّمۡ وَكُنۡتُمۡ تُرَابًا وَّعِظَامًا اَنَّكُمۡ مُّخۡرَجُوۡنَ ۙ‏ ٣٥

Does he promise you that when you are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, you will be brought forth to life?

Yeh tumhein ittila deta hai ke jab tum mar kar mitti ho jaogey aur haddiyon ka panjar reh jaogey us waqt tum (qabaron se) nikale jaogey

هَيۡهَاتَ هَيۡهَاتَ لِمَا تُوۡعَدُوۡنَ ۙ‏ ٣٦

Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are being promised.

Baeed (far/Impossible), bilkul baeed(Impossible) hai yeh wada jo tumse kiya jaa raha hai

اِنۡ هِىَ اِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا الدُّنۡيَا نَمُوۡتُ وَنَحۡيَا وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَبۡعُوۡثِيۡنَ ۙ‏ ٣٧

There is no other life than the life of the world. We shall live here and here shall we die; and we are not going to be raised again.

Zindagi kuch nahin hai magar bas yahi duniya ki zindagi. Yahin humko marna aur jeena hai aur hum hargiz uthaye janey waley nahin hain

اِنۡ هُوَ اِلَّا رَجُلُ اۨفۡتَـرٰى عَلَى اللّٰهِ كَذِبًا وَّمَا نَحۡنُ لَهٗ بِمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ‏ ٣٨

This man has forged a mere lie in the name of Allah and we shall never believe what he says."

Yeh shaks khuda ke naam par mehaz jhoot ghadh raha hai aur hum kabhi iske maanne waley nahin hain.”

قَالَ رَبِّ انْصُرۡنِىۡ بِمَا كَذَّبُوۡنِ‏ ٣٩

The Messenger said: "My Lord! Come to my help at their accusing me of lying."

Rasool ne kaha “parwardigar , in logon ne jo meri takzeeb ki hai, ispar ab tu hi meri nusrat farma”

قَالَ عَمَّا قَلِيۡلٍ لَّيُصۡبِحُنَّ نٰدِمِيۡنَ​ۚ‏ ٤٠

He answered: "A short while, and they shall be repenting."

Jawab mein irshad hua “qareeb hai woh waqt jab yeh apne kiye par pachtayenge”

فَاَخَذَتۡهُمُ الصَّيۡحَةُ بِالۡحَـقِّ فَجَعَلۡنٰهُمۡ غُثَآءً​ۚ فَبُعۡدًا لِّـلۡقَوۡمِ الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ‏ ٤١

Then a mighty blast quite justly overtook them, and We reduced them to a rubble. So away with the wrong-doing folk!

Aakhir e kaar theek theek haqq ke mutabiq ek hungama e azeem ne unko aa liya aur humne inko kachra bana kar phenk diya. Door ho zaalim qaum

ثُمَّ اَنۡشَاۡنَا مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ قُرُوۡنًا اٰخَرِيۡنَؕ‏ ٤٢

Then, after them, We brought forth other generations.

Phir humne unke baad dusri qaumein uthayi

مَا تَسۡبِقُ مِنۡ اُمَّةٍ اَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسۡتَـاۡخِرُوۡنَؕ‏ ٤٣

No nation can outstrip its term, nor can it put it back.

Koi qaum na apne waqt se pehle khatam hui aur na uske baad thehar saki

ثُمَّ اَرۡسَلۡنَا رُسُلَنَا تَتۡـرَا​ ؕ كُلَّ مَا جَآءَ اُمَّةً رَّسُوۡلُهَا كَذَّبُوۡهُ​ فَاَتۡبَـعۡنَا بَعۡـضَهُمۡ بَعۡـضًا وَّجَعَلۡنٰهُمۡ اَحَادِيۡثَ​ ۚ فَبُـعۡدًا لِّـقَوۡمٍ لَّا يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ‏ ٤٤

Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Whenever a Messenger came to his people they rejected him, calling him a liar. Thereupon, We made each people to follow the other (to its doom), reducing them to mere tales (of the past). Scourged be the people who do not believe!

Phir humne pai dar pai apne Rasool bheje. Jis qaum ke paas bhi uska Rasool aaya, usne usey jhutlaya, aur hum ek ke baad ek qaum ko halaak karte chale gaye hatta ke unko bas afsana hi bana kar choda, phitkar un logon par jo iman nahin laatey

ثُمَّ اَرۡسَلۡنَا مُوۡسٰى وَاَخَاهُ هٰرُوۡنَ ۙ بِاٰيٰتِنَا وَسُلۡطٰنٍ مُّبِيۡنٍۙ‏  ٤٥

Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Signs and a clear authority

Phir humne Moosa aur uske bhai Haroon ko apni nishaniyon aur khuli sanad ke saath Firoun aur uske ayaan sultanat ki taraf bheja

اِلٰى فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَا۟ٮِٕهٖ فَاسۡتَكۡبَرُوۡا وَكَانُوۡا قَوۡمًا عٰلِيۡنَ​ ۚ‏ ٤٦

to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty.

Magar unhon ne takabbur (arrogance) kiya aur badi dunki li

فَقَالُـوۡۤا اَنُؤۡمِنُ لِبَشَرَيۡنِ مِثۡلِنَا وَقَوۡمُهُمَا لَـنَا عٰبِدُوۡنَ​ۚ‏  ٤٧

They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?"

Kehne lage “Kya hum apne hi jaise do aadmiyon par iman le aayein? Aur aadmi bhi woh jinki qaum hamari bandi (ghulam) hai”

فَكَذَّبُوۡهُمَا فَكَانُوۡا مِنَ الۡمُهۡلَـكِيۡنَ‏ ٤٨

So they rejected them, calling them liars, and they too eventually became of those that were destroyed.

Pas unhon ne dono ko jhutla diya aur halaak honay walon mein jaa miley

وَلَـقَدۡ اٰتَيۡنَا مُوۡسَى الۡـكِتٰبَ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَهۡتَدُوۡنَ‏ ٤٩

And We gave Moses the Book that people might be guided by it.

Aur Moosa ko humne kitaab ata farmayi taa-ke log ussey rehnumayi haasil karein

وَجَعَلۡنَا ابۡنَ مَرۡيَمَ وَاُمَّهٗۤ اٰيَةً وَّاٰوَيۡنٰهُمَاۤ اِلٰى رَبۡوَةٍ ذَاتِ قَرَارٍ وَّمَعِيۡنٍ‏ ٥٠

And We made Mary's son, and his mother, a Sign, and We gave them refuge on a lofty ground, a peaceful site with springs flowing in it.

Aur Ibne Maryam aur uski maa ko humne ek nishani banaya aur unko ek sateh murtafa (shelter on a plateau) par rakkha jo itminaan ki jagah thi aur chashme usmein jaari thay

يٰۤـاَيُّهَا الرُّسُلُ كُلُوۡا مِنَ الطَّيِّبٰتِ وَاعۡمَلُوْا صَالِحًـا​ ؕ اِنِّىۡ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ عَلِيۡمٌ ؕ‏ ٥١

Messengers! Partake of the things that are clean, and act righteously. I know well all that you do.

Aey paigambaron, khao paak cheezein aur amal karo saleh, tum jo kuch bhi karte ho, main usko khoob jaanta hoon

وَاِنَّ هٰذِهٖۤ اُمَّتُكُمۡ اُمَّةً وَّاحِدَةً وَّاَنَا رَبُّكُمۡ فَاتَّقُوۡنِ‏  ٥٢

This community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so hold Me alone in fear.

Aur yeh tumhari yeh ummat ek hi ummat hai aur main tumhara Rubb hoon, pas mujhi se tum daro

فَتَقَطَّعُوۡۤا اَمۡرَهُمۡ بَيۡنَهُمۡ زُبُرًا​ ؕ كُلُّ حِزۡبٍۢ بِمَا لَدَيۡهِمۡ فَرِحُوۡنَ‏ ٥٣

But people later cut up their religion into bits, each group rejoicing in what they have.

Magar baad mein logon ne apne deen (religion) ko aapas mein tukde tukde karliya, har giroh ke paas jo kuch hai usi mein woh magan hai

فَذَرۡهُمۡ فِىۡ غَمۡرَتِهِمۡ حَتّٰى حِيۡنٍ‏ ٥٤

So leave them immersed in their heedlessness till an appointed time.

Accha, to chodo inhein, doobey rahein apni gaflat mein ek waqt e khaas tak

اَيَحۡسَبُوۡنَ اَنَّمَا نُمِدُّهُمۡ بِهٖ مِنۡ مَّالٍ وَّبَنِيۡنَۙ‏ ٥٥

Do they fancy that Our continuing to give them wealth and children (means) that

Kya yeh samajhte hain ke hum jo inhein maal o aulad se madad diye jaa rahey hain

نُسَارِعُ لَهُمۡ فِى الۡخَيۡـرٰتِ​ ؕ بَلْ لَّا يَشۡعُرُوۡنَ‏ ٥٦

We are busy lavishing on them all kinds of good? Nay, they do not perceive the reality of the matter.

To goya inhein bhalaiyan dene mein sargarm hain? Nahin, asal maamle ka inhein shaour nahin hai

اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ مِّنۡ خَشۡيَةِ رَبِّهِمۡ مُّشۡفِقُوۡنَۙ‏ ٥٧

Surely those who stand in awe for fear of their Lord,

Jo apne Rubb ke khauf se darey rehte hain

وَالَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ بِاٰيٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَۙ‏ ٥٨

who have full faith in the Signs of their Lord;

Jo Rubb ki aayat par iman latey hain

وَالَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ بِرَبِّهِمۡ لَا يُشۡرِكُوۡنَۙ‏ ٥٩

who associate none with their Lord in His Divinity,

Jo apne Rubb ke saath kisi ko shareek nahin karte

وَالَّذِيۡنَ يُؤۡتُوۡنَ مَاۤ اٰتَوْا وَّ قُلُوۡبُهُمۡ وَجِلَةٌ اَنَّهُمۡ اِلٰى رَبِّهِمۡ رٰجِعُوۡنَ ۙ‏ ٦٠

who give, whatever they give in charity, with their hearts trembling at the thought that they are destined to return to their Lord;

Aur jinka haal yeh hai ke detay hain jo kuch bhi detay hain aur dil unke is khayal se kaampte rehte hain ke humein apne Rubb ki taraf palatna hai

اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ يُسَارِعُوۡنَ فِىۡ الۡخَيۡـرٰتِ وَهُمۡ لَهَا سٰبِقُوۡنَ‏  ٦١

it is these who hasten to do good works and vie in so doing with one another.

Bhalaiyon ki taraf daudne waley aur sabaqat karke unhein paa lene waley to dar-haqeeqat woh log hain

وَلَا نُـكَلِّفُ نَفۡسًا اِلَّا وُسۡعَهَا​ وَلَدَيۡنَا كِتٰبٌ يَّـنۡطِقُ بِالۡحَـقِّ​ وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُوۡنَ‏ ٦٢

We do not lay a burden on anyone beyond his capacity. We have a Book with Us that speaks the truth(about everyone); and they shall in no wise be wronged.

Hum kisi shaks ko uski maqdart (taaqat) se zyada ki takleef nahin detay aur humare paas ek kitaab hai jo (har ek ka haal) theek theek bata dene wali hai, aur logon par zulm bahr-haal nahin kiya jayega

بَلۡ قُلُوۡبُهُمۡ فِىۡ غَمۡرَةٍ مِّنۡ هٰذَا وَلَهُمۡ اَعۡمَالٌ مِّنۡ دُوۡنِ ذٰلِكَ هُمۡ لَهَا عٰمِلُوۡنَ‏ ٦٣

Nay, their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this; and their deeds too vary from the way (mentioned above). They will persist in these deeds

Magar yeh log is maamle se be-khabar hain aur inke aamal bhi is tareeqe se ( jiska upar zikr kiya gaya hai) mukhtalif hain. Woh apne yeh karoot kiye chale jayenge

حَتّٰۤى اِذَاۤ اَخَذۡنَا مُتۡـرَفِيۡهِمۡ بِالۡعَذَابِ اِذَا هُمۡ يَجۡـــَٔرُوۡنَؕ‏  ٦٤

until We seize with Our chastisement those of them that are given to luxuriant ways. They will then begin to groan.

Yahan tak ke jab hum unke ayyashon (affluent ones /aasuda haal) ko azaab mein pakad lenge to phir woh dakrana shuru kar denge (begin to bellow /cry)

لَا تَجۡـــَٔرُوا الۡيَوۡمَ​ اِنَّكُمۡ مِّنَّا لَا تُنۡصَرُوۡنَ‏ ٦٥

"Put a stop to your groaning now! Surely no help shall be provided to you from Us.

Ab bandh karo apni fariyad o fugaan, hamari taraf se ab koi madad tumhein nahin milni

قَدۡ كَانَتۡ اٰيٰتِىۡ تُتۡلٰى عَلَيۡكُمۡ فَـكُنۡتُمۡ عَلٰٓى اَعۡقَابِكُمۡ تَـنۡكِصُوۡنَۙ‏ ٦٦

My Signs were rehearsed to you and you turned back on your heels and took to flight,

Meri aayat sunayi jati thi to tum (Rasool ki aawaz sunte hi) ultay paon bhaag nikalte thay

مُسۡتَكۡبِرِيۡنَ ​ۖ  بِهٖ سٰمِرًا تَهۡجُرُوۡنَ‏ ٦٧

behaving arrogantly, and making fun, and talking nonsense (about the Book in your nightly chats)."

Apne ghamand mein usko khatir hi mein na latey thay,apne chaoupalon (meeting places) mein unpar baatein chaant-te (ridiculed him) aur bakwas kiya karte thay

اَفَلَمۡ يَدَّبَّرُوا الۡقَوۡلَ اَمۡ جَآءَهُمۡ مَّا لَمۡ يَاۡتِ اٰبَآءَهُمُ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَ‏ ٦٨

Did they never ponder over this Word (of God)? Or has he (to wit, the Messenger) brought something the like of which did not come to their forefathers of yore?

To kya in logon ne kabhi is kalaam par gaur nahin kiya? Ya woh koi aisi baat laya hai jo kabhi inke aslaaf (forefathers) ke paas na aayi thi

اَمۡ لَمۡ يَعۡرِفُوۡا رَسُوۡلَهُمۡ فَهُمۡ لَهٗ مُنۡكِرُوۡنَ‏ ٦٩

Or is it that they were unaware of their Messenger and were therefore repelled by him for he was a stranger to them?

Ya yeh apne Rasool se kabhi ke waqif na thay ke (anjaana aadmi honay ke baais) ussey bidakte hain

اَمۡ يَـقُوۡلُوۡنَ بِهٖ جِنَّةٌ  ؕ بَلۡ جَآءَهُمۡ بِالۡحَـقِّ وَاَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لِلۡحَقِّ كٰرِهُوۡنَ‏ ٧٠

Or do they say that there is madness in him? Nay, he has brought them the Truth and it is the Truth that most of them disdain.

Ya ye is baat ke qayal hain ke woh majnoon [possessed (by a jinn)] hai? Nahin, balke woh haqq laya hai aur haqq hi inki aksariyat (most) ko nagawar hai

وَلَوِ اتَّبَعَ الۡحَـقُّ اَهۡوَآءَهُمۡ لَفَسَدَتِ السَّمٰوٰتُ وَالۡاَرۡضُ وَمَنۡ فِيۡهِنَّ​ؕ بَلۡ اَتَيۡنٰهُمۡ بِذِكۡرِهِمۡ فَهُمۡ عَنۡ ذِكۡرِهِمۡ مُّعۡرِضُوۡنَؕ‏  ٧١

Were the Truth to follow their desires, the order of the heavens and the earth and those who dwell in them would have been ruined. Nay, the fact is that We have brought to them their own remembrance; and yet it is from their own remembrance that they are turning away.

Aur haqq agar kahin inki khwaishaat ke peechey chalta to zameen aur aasman aur inki saari aabaadi ka nizam darham barham ho jata. Nahin, balke hum unka apna hi zikar unke paas laaye hain aur woh apne zikr se mooh moad rahey hain

اَمۡ تَسۡــَٔـلُهُمۡ خَرۡجًا فَخَرٰجُ رَبِّكَ خَيۡرٌ​ ​ۖ  وَّهُوَ خَيۡرُ الرّٰزِقِيۡنَ‏ ٧٢

Are you asking them for something? What Allah has given you is the best. He is the Best of providers.
