078 surah

عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُوۡنَ​ۚ‏ ١

About what are they asking one another?

عَنِ النَّبَاِ الۡعَظِيۡمِۙ‏ ٢

Is it about the awesome tiding

Kya us badi khabar ke baarey mein

الَّذِىۡ هُمۡ فِيۡهِ مُخۡتَلِفُوۡنَؕ‏ ٣

that they are in utter disagreement?

Jiske mutaaliq yeh mukhtalif che-mei-goiyan (disagreement) karne mein lagey huey hain

كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُوۡنَۙ‏ ٤

No indeed; soon will they come to know;

Hargiz nahin an-qareeb inhein maloom ho jayega

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُوۡنَ‏ ٥

again, no indeed; soon will they come to know.

Haan hargiz nahin, an-qareeb inhein maloom ho jayega

اَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ الۡاَرۡضَ مِهٰدًا ۙ‏ ٦

Have We not spread the earth like a bed,

Kya yeh waqiya nahin hai ke humne zameen ko farsh banaya

وَّالۡجِبَالَ اَوۡتَادًا ۙ‏ ٧

and fixed the mountains like pegs,

Aur pahadon ko mekhon(pegs) ki tarah gaad diya

وَّخَلَقۡنٰكُمۡ اَزۡوَاجًا ۙ‏ ٨

and created you in pairs (as men and women),

Aur tumhein (mardon aur auraton ke) jodon ki shakal mein paida kiya

وَّجَعَلۡنَا نَوۡمَكُمۡ سُبَاتًا ۙ‏ ٩

and made your sleep a means of repose,

Aur tumhari neend ko baaisey sukoon banaya

وَّجَعَلۡنَا الَّيۡلَ لِبَاسًا ۙ‏ ١٠

and made the night a covering,

Aur raat ko purdah posh

وَّجَعَلۡنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا‏ ١١

and made the day to seek livelihood,

Aur din ko muaash ka waqt banaya

وَّبَنَيۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعًا شِدَادًا ۙ‏ ١٢

and built above you seven strong firmaments,

Aur Tumharey upar saat mazboot aasman qayam kiye

وَّ جَعَلۡنَا سِرَاجًا وَّهَّاجًا ۙ‏ ١٣

and placed therein a hot, shining lamp,

Aur ek nihayat roshan aur garm chirag paida kya

وَّاَنۡزَلۡنَا مِنَ الۡمُعۡصِرٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا ۙ‏ ١٤

and sent down abundant water from the clouds

Aur baadalon se lagatar baarish barsayi

لِّـنُخۡرِجَ بِهٖ حَبًّا وَّنَبَاتًا ۙ‏ ١٥

so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation,

Taa-ke iske zariye se galla(grain) aur sabzi

وَّجَنّٰتٍ اَلۡفَافًا ؕ‏ ١٦

and gardens dense with foliage?

Aur ghaney baagh ugaye

اِنَّ يَوۡمَ الۡفَصۡلِ كَانَ مِيۡقَاتًا ۙ‏ ١٧

Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time;

Beshak faisley ka din ek mukarrar waqt hai

يَّوۡمَ يُنۡفَخُ فِى الصُّوۡرِ فَتَاۡتُوۡنَ اَفۡوَاجًا ۙ‏ ١٨

the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes;

Jis roz soor mei phook maar di jayegi tum fauj dar fauj nikal aaogey

وَّفُتِحَتِ السَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتۡ اَبۡوَابًا ۙ‏ ١٩

and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors;

Aur aasmaan khol diya jayega hatta ke woh darwaze hi darwaze ban kar reh jayega

وَّ سُيِّرَتِ الۡجِبَالُ فَكَانَتۡ سَرَابًا ؕ‏ ٢٠

and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage.

Aur pahad chalaye jayenge yahan tak ke woh saraab(mirage) ho jayenge

اِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتۡ مِرۡصَادًا ۙ‏ ٢١

Surely the Hell is an ambush,

Dar haqeeqat jahannum ek ghaat(ambush) hai

لِّلطّٰغِيۡنَ مَاٰبًا ۙ‏ ٢٢

a resort for the rebellious;

Sarkashon ka thikana

لّٰبِثِيۡنَ فِيۡهَاۤ اَحۡقَابًا​ ۚ‏ ٢٣

therein they shall abide for ages,

Jismein woh muddaton padey rahengey

لَا يَذُوۡقُوۡنَ فِيۡهَا بَرۡدًا وَّلَا شَرَابًا ۙ‏ ٢٤

they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink

Uske andar kisi thandak aur peene ke qabil kisi cheez ka maza woh na chakhengey

اِلَّا حَمِيۡمًا وَّغَسَّاقًا ۙ‏ ٢٥

save boiling water and wash of the wounds;

kuch milega to bas garam paani aur zakhmon ka dho-wan(peep)

جَزَآءً وِّفَاقًا ؕ‏ ٢٦

a befitting recompense for their deeds.

(Unke kartuton) ka bharpur badla

اِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۡا لَا يَرۡجُوۡنَ حِسَابًا ۙ‏ ٢٧

For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning,

Woh kisi hisab ki tawakku na rakhte thay

وَّكَذَّبُوۡا بِاٰيٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا ؕ‏ ٢٨

and roundly denied Our Signs as false.

Aur hamari aayat ko unhon ne bilkul jhutla diya tha

وَكُلَّ شَىۡءٍ اَحۡصَيۡنٰهُ كِتٰبًا ۙ‏ ٢٩

And everything have We recorded in a Book.

Aur haal yeh tha ke humne har cheez gin gin kar likh rakkhi thi

فَذُوۡقُوۡا فَلَنۡ نَّزِيۡدَكُمۡ اِلَّا عَذَابًا‏ ٣٠

So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment.

Ab chakho maza, Hum tumhare liye azaab ke siwa kisi cheez mei hargiz izafa na karengey

اِنَّ لِلۡمُتَّقِيۡنَ مَفَازًا ۙ‏ ٣١

Surely the state of triumph awaits the God-fearing:

Yakeenan muttakiyon(pious) ke liye kamrani ka ek Muqaam hai

حَدَآٮِٕقَ وَاَعۡنَابًا ۙ‏ ٣٢

gardens and vineyards,

Baagh aur angur

وَّكَوَاعِبَ اَتۡرَابًا ۙ‏ ٣٣

and youthful maidens of like age,

Aur naukhez humsin ladkiyan

وَّكَاۡسًا دِهَاقًا ؕ‏ ٣٤

and an overflowing cup.

Aur jhalakte huey jaam

لَا يَسۡمَعُوۡنَ فِيۡهَا لَـغۡوًا وَّلَا كِذّٰبًا​ ۚ‏ ٣٥

Therein they shall hear no idle talk, nor any falsehood;

Wahan koi lagv(vain) aur jhuthi baat woh na sunengey

جَزَآءً مِّنۡ رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا ۙ‏ ٣٦

a recompense from your Lord and an ample reward

Jazaa aur kafi inaam tumharey Rubb ki taraf se

رَّبِّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا الرَّحۡمٰنِ​ لَا يَمۡلِكُوۡنَ مِنۡهُ خِطَابًا​ ۚ‏ ٣٧

from the Lord of the heavens and the earth and of that which is between them; the Most Merciful Lord before Whom none dare utter a word.

Us nihayat meharban khuda ki taraf se jo zameen aur aasmaano ka aur inke darmiyan ki har cheez ka malik hai jiske samney kisi ko bolne ka yara nahin

يَوۡمَ يَقُوۡمُ الرُّوۡحُ وَالۡمَلٰٓٮِٕكَةُ صَفًّا ؕۙ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُوۡنَ اِلَّا مَنۡ اَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحۡمٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا​‏ ٣٨

The Day when the Spirit and the angels are ranged row on row. None shall speak save he whom the Merciful Lord will permit; and he too will speak what is right.

Jis roz rooh aur malaika saff basta khade hongey. Koi na bolega siwaye uske jisey Rehman ijazat de aur jo theek baat kahey

ذٰلِكَ الۡيَوۡمُ الۡحَـقُّ​ ۚ فَمَنۡ شَآءَ اتَّخَذَ اِلٰى رَبِّهٖ مَاٰبًا‏  ٣٩

That Day is sure to come. So let him who will seek a resort with his Lord.

Woh din bar-haqq hai, ab jiska jee chahey apne Rubb ki taraf palatne ka rasta ikhtiyar karle

اِنَّاۤ اَنۡذَرۡنٰـكُمۡ عَذَابًا قَرِيۡبًا ۖۚ  يَّوۡمَ يَنۡظُرُ الۡمَرۡءُ مَا قَدَّمَتۡ يَدٰهُ وَيَقُوۡلُ الۡـكٰفِرُ يٰلَيۡتَنِىۡ كُنۡتُ تُرٰبًا‏ ٤٠

Lo! We warn you of a chastisement near at hand; the Day when a man will look on what his own hands have sent forth, and the unbelievers shall say: “Oh would that I were utter dust.”

Humne tum logon ko us azaab se dara diya hai jo qareeb aa laga hai. Jis roz aadmi woh sab kuch dekh lega jo uske hathon ne aagey bheja hai, aur kafir pukar uthega ke kaash mai khaaq(mitti) hota
