He it is Who has sent to the gentiles a Messenger from among themselves, one who rehearses to them His verses, purifies their lives, and imparts to them the Book and the Wisdom although before that they were in utter error;

— A. Maududi (English Tafhim commentary)

Wahi hai jisne ummiyon (gentiles/unlettered) ke andar ek Rasool khud unhi mein se uthaya, jo unhein uski ayaat sunata hai, unki zindagi sanwarta hai,aur unko kitaab aur hikmat ki taleem deta hai, halaanke issey pehle woh khuli gumraahi me padey huey thay

The parable of those who were charged with the Torah and then they failed to live up to it is that of a donkey laden with books. Even more evil is the parable of the people who gave the lie to the Signs of Allah. Allah does not direct such wrong-doers to the Right Way.

— A. Maududi (English Tafhim commentary)

Aisey zaalimon ko Allah hidayat nahi diya karta

Tell them: “O you who have become Judaised, if you arrogantly fancy that you are Allah's favourites to the exclusion of all people, then wish for death, if you are truthful in your claim.”

— A. Maududi (English Tafhim commentary)

Insey kaho, “aey logo jo yahudi ban gaye ho, agar tumhein yeh ghamand (arrogance) hai ke baqi sab logon ko chodh kar bas tum hi Allah ke chahite (favourites) ho to maut ki tamanna karo agar tum apne is zaam (claim) mein sachche ho

But they shall never wish for death because of the (evil) deeds they have committed. Allah is well aware of these evil-doers.

— A. Maududi (English Tafhim commentary)

Aur Allah in zalimon ko khoob jaanta hai

Tell them: “The death from which you flee will certainly overtake you. Then you will be returned to Him Who fully knows what is hidden and what is manifest. Thereupon He will let you know all that you used to do.”

— A. Maududi (English Tafhim commentary)

Insey kaho , “jis maut se tum bhaagte ho wo to tumhein aakar rahegi. Phir tum uske saamne pesh kiye jaogey jo poshida (hidden) aur zaahir ka jaanne wala hai. Aur woh tumhein bata dega ke tum kya kuch karte rahey ho

Believers, when the call for Prayer is made on Friday, hasten to the remembrance of Allah and give up all trading. That is better for you, if you only knew.

— A. Maududi (English Tafhim commentary)

Aey logon jo iman laye ho, jab pukara jaye namaz ke liye jumaa ke din to Allah ke zikr ki taraf daudo aur khareed-o-farokht chodh do. Yeh tumhare liye zyada bethar hai agar tum jaano

But when the Prayer is ended, disperse in the land and seek Allah's Bounty, and remember Allah much so that you may prosper.

— A. Maududi (English Tafhim commentary)

Phir jab namaz poori ho jaye to zameen mein phayl jao aur Allah ka fazl talash karo aur Allah ko kasrat se yaad karte raho, shayad ke tumhein falaah (kamiyabi/prosperity) naseeb ho jaye

Yet no sooner than they saw some trading or amusement, they flocked to it and left you standing by yourself. Tell them: “That which is with Allah is far better than amusement and trading. Allah is the Best Provider of sustenance.”

— A. Maududi (English Tafhim commentary)

Aur jab unhon ne tijarat (business) aur khel tamasha hote dekha to uski taraf lapak gaye aur tumhein khada chodh diya. Insey kaho, jo kuch Allah ke paas hai wo khel tamashey aur tijarat se behtar hai aur Allah sabse behtar rizq (sustenance) dene wala hai

— Abul Ala Maududi (Roman Urdu)
